Effective for SOME colors
I used this on my pursuit to take my hair from semi permanent black (manic panic's raven black and lunar tide's eclipse black) to a previously bleached state.I would advise doing 3-4 rounds if you're trying to lift a darker pigment. This is very gentle, but is a bit of a process. It's also advisable that you use heat and a plastic cap to help make the product as effective as possible.

Skin Sensitivity Warning
This color remover unfortunately did not work to remove the blue from my hair. I'm sure it worked for many people just not me. Also if you have sensitive skin I'd be careful, or do a skin allergy test beforehand. After my second round of using this remover I noticed a horrible, painful rash on my neck that I've had for almost a week now that this product caused. Just use with caution.

It does work but it takes a few applications.
I wasn’t sure about this hair color remover but I did try it, and it worked… kinda. The first time I applied it to my wet hair after I washed my hair with shampoo and conditioner. It took quite a bit of color out but didn’t really make a huge difference. (See first photo). My hair was super dark almost black, and I wanted to lighten it. The second time I applied it to my wet hair again after washing, but this time I applied heat and used my hair dryer on high heat for about 30 minutes. In total I left it on for about 2 hours. It took A LOT more color out! (See second photo). I used this for a third time but I applied it on dry hair to see if that would work better. I applied heat and left it on for about 2 and a half hours. It took more color out but wasn’t that noticeable.Final thoughts: I think product works and my hair doesn’t feel damaged or dry at all. It still feels soft and healthy. The instructions say that it is non-damaging and you can’t leave it on for too long. So you could apply this a few times until you get your desired color, or leave it on for more than 2 hours. I didn’t dare leave it on longer than 2.5 hours, but maybe leaving it in longer would take out a bunch more color? 3 stars because it does work… kinda.

Does the job
I’ve been using this and blank canvas to switch between direct dye colors for about 6 months. I leave it on for the directed time under slight heat, and I get multiple applications from one packet as my hair is not quite to my shoulders. I would not recommend putting it in a squirt tube, as it will get clogged immediately. I just mix it in a bowl now, easier to get the clumps out. I have removed neon warm colors, as well as some purples with this successfully. I add a little bit of shampoo to the mix, it seems to help to distribute it. Also just beware, it starts as a grey/earthy color and then when it dries it becomes a dark brown. I now have a towel that I put around my neck that looks very unfortunate as I didn’t realize it would stain. If I do several treatments in a day, my scalp gets a bit irritated and my hair needs some deep conditioning. But it works, and although it’s drying, it still leaves my hair much nicer than a bleach bath or products with developer do.

This stuff is actually awesome
I bought this from my local Sally’s after an associate recommended it over ‘One N Only Colorfix.’ I felt compelled to leave a review here after hours of research and reading reviews to hopefully make someone else’s life easier! I uploaded photos and numbered them for reference.#1 shows how dark black my hair was to start.#2 was after one treatment. I followed the directions to a T. I do not own a blow dryer so in order to apply heat as the directions recommend, I wrapped my hair in a plastic grocery bag, put a heating pad over that, and a towel over the top of that. Yes I looked insane. I let it sit for an hour. When I washed it out, I used hot water and Suave clarifying shampoo. I shampoo’d 3x and did not use conditioner. My hair felt horrendous but I was already planning on doing a second treatment in the morning, so I just went to bed and let it dry.#3 is after the second treatment. This time I took a chance and applied it to dry hair because I had already shampoo’d 3x the night before and my hair was tough to comb through. After application I wrapped my head in a grocery bag again, put a heating pad over it, and a towel over that. Let it sit for an hour. Washed it out 3x with hot water and clarifying shampoo again. Followed it up with Hask’s Argan Oil Deep Conditioning treatment. After using the conditioner my hair felt so much better. The photo of the top of my head is to show my natural hair color. This product did a great job of removing the black from my natural hair after just 2 applications. It also did not damage my hair at all, which is also why I chose this product. I have fine hair and I did not want to damage it with a product that contained bleach. The reason it is a different color at the ends is because that is where I had previously gotten highlights and then I went over those highlights with copper for awhile. I don’t expect it to remove all of the copper or bring the highlights back. I think it would be unrealistic to think that was possible. My goal here was to remove the harsh black color and it did exactly that. The brands of black (and copper) hair colors that this product effectively removed were Naturtint, Herbatint, L’Oréal Preference, and Revlon Colorstay. All are permanent dyes.
