Best XF Portrait Lens
This lens is an absolutely beautiful fusion of classic and modern lens design. Modern lens designs can be truly amazing in the resolution they can produce, but sometimes the resulting images just aren't as pleasing as I expect of "portrait" lens. This lens can get sharp stopped down but wide-open it is pleasing on skin and renders the world in a beautiful and nostalgic way - the look it has very much reminds me of my old medium format lenses, something I wish I could say about my entire lens collection. I have always seen digital images as having a more detailed but less pleasing 'look' than film images, and this lens brings that look I've missed so much into the digital world. Chromatic aberration is about average for fast primes in quantity, but this lens handles the aberrations it does have quite gracefully compared to even my other premium Fuji primes. This lens has renewed my confidence in the Fuji X camera system and I can see myself transitioning to creating more photographs on a digital camera thanks to this lens.

Best Portrait Lense
I love this lens. The isolation of subjects is incredible. It’s hard to take a bad portrait photo with this lens. I take a lot of low light photos. There is no other lens with better low light capabilities. That being said this is not a video lens. The auto focusing is audible. This lens is perfect for the niche that it was meant for.

Great lens
But the lens cover seems to be shipped with broken threads. It doesn’t stay on as you move the camera with lens on it, the front lens hood slips down

Amazing Lens
Had the chance to shoot this lens at a Fuji sponsored street walk on two different nights and was totally amazed at how well this lens rendered images wide open. It’s a tool, an expensive lens yes, but the photos over two nights have me planning to buy one in the first part of the new year.

The low light lens I've been waiting for
The focal length is great. 70mm equiv FOV which is my favorite and not common. Gives you more flexibility than an 85mm for what I do, and has my favorite compression level. I've never been a big fan of more compression than around 70mm does. I think faces look more natural but can still get that portrait look. I shoot a lot of dark events where you need the ambiance and colors of the room, so flash can't do. And thanks to this lens I'm not wishing I had a bigger sensor to work with. Because of this lense I can go big if I need for low light, but also with an APS-C size camera i can pop on a tiny fujicron f/2 if I need something light. I love that flexibility. Thanks Fuji have been wanting exactly this since I switched to Fuji years back. As far as the image quality, my copy is very sharp and I just love the pictures that come out of it. They have this quality that makes me want to shoot more. Thanks Fuji!

Beware
Was super excited to receive the 50mm f1 lens. The box even had a plastic covering so I felt assured that I wasn’t being sent a used lens like my last order of the 56mm f1.2 that doesn’t even work. When I open the box, the monster lens I was expecting to see ended up being another small 56mm f1.2! A massive disappointment!I double check the box and it even says 50mm f1 on it. Now I have two of the same lens and I’m out $4000 paying interest on two lenses I don’t even want!
