Good product, but problem with striker pack v2??
This product is amazing. Just bought it and followed their instructions on YouTube video and it worked perfectly. Those who gives lower stars aren't probably not handy with doing these types of things or aren't careful and end up breaking it or not installed it properly and therefore it doesn't work. Some might come defective but mine didn't. Was very easy to install. Took me 30 mins to finish it and was my first time doing it. I have the CUH-ZCT2U controller. There is one thing tho. I have a striker pack v2 and when I connect the striker pack with my controller and click R2. It drags the aiming down slowly. But when I use it without the striker pack. It works perfectly. The striker pack was working perfect before the swap. So idk.

I'm giving it a 4/5 rating, but with caveats - PLEASE READ
INSTALLATION It's not for the faint of heart. You will have to open up and disassemble the controller almost as much as it can be disassembled without removing soldered parts. The company does have a YouTube video that is more helpful than a simple manual for most intents and purposes, and the video is pretty clear, though it might require some pausing and careful scanning to be sure you are putting certain parts in there correctly. Overall, the scariest part is the first step of opening the controller, during which it really feels like you are going to break something. I've opened five different DS4s over the past couple of weeks, and it seems to be the case that you necessarily WILL snap a tiny bracket on the left-inside when you open it. After inspecting the bracket, I'm fairly certain that it is designed purposefully to break when open - maybe for warranty purposes on Sony's part, like to determine whether a controller has been tampered with when they receive a DS4 under warranty for repair. Perhaps they have some special tool that they use to open it without snapping this bracket. Either way, after using the prying tool for the first couple of controllers, I've found with the others (and in subsequent cases where I've reopened controllers I've already opened once) that it's much easier to just forcefully pull one end apart, and then the other. Especially since the prying tool itself takes a great deal of damage after being used once or twice. I tried to photograph the aforementioned bracket that breaks, but it's really tiny and difficult to capture clearly. You'll notice it if you look closely enough, but it won't make any difference in regards to anything. Just be sure to shake out any tiny bit of plastic that might be rolling around the inside of the controller before you reassemble it. THE MOD My biggest complaint about its design is that it's designed for all four shoulder/trigger buttons. If you're like me, you just want to address the pull range of the triggers (R2/L2) so as to make them shallow, and don't have any issues with the shoulder (R1/L1) buttons as they are, either in terms of depth or clickiness. This mod doesn't care. It's for all four buttons, and your shoulder buttons (R1/L1) will ALSO be shallower and more clicky after you fully install this mod. Additionally, if you've read other reviews and questions about this product, you might be aware of the concern of not being able to use both buttons on one side (R1/R2 or L1/L2) at the same time. I can verify that it is a bit of a concern. On both controllers I modded with this product, the L1 (or R1) button will not reliably depress when the L2 (or R2) is also being held down. Sometimes it will a little bit, and it's a little more reliable in that regard if you're pressing straight down on the L1/R1 button from the center/top while holding the corresponding shoulder button, as opposed to pressing the button on its side. It also, for some reason, seems to be more of an issue on the right side than the left. That being said, while there are issues with the shoulder buttons depressing while the corresponding trigger is being held down, the detection mostly seems to work. In other words, the button press is still being detected even if the shoulder button is not depressing. THE GOOD NEWS IN RESPONSE TO BOTH OF THOSE ISSUES I've found is that the simultaneous-press issue can be addressed, and doing so also addresses the first issue I mentioned of not wanting to mod the L1/R1 buttons. The solution is really simple, too: just don't attach the included clear pegs to the L1/R1 buttons. I was told in the questions section here on Amazon that it wouldn't work if it the mod is not fully applied, but it simply isn't true. After being annoyed with the issue of both buttons on one side not being able to depress simultaneously, I decided to pop one of my modded controllers open again and remove the pegs from L1 and R1. After that. I discovered that there was no loss of functionality whatsoever, and that the L1/R1 buttons were no longer as shallow as the mod had made them. And it also thoroughly addressed the issue of not being able to press the shoulder/trigger on one side simultaneously - all four can now be depressed simultaneously without any issues. After that discovery, I immediately removed the pegs from my other modded controller as well. CONCLUSION I liked it before I discovered that it can be installed without the shoulder (L1/R1) pegs inserted, and I love it now that I have made that discovery. I've used it with several games, and it's just fantastic with all of them. It's going to cripple you with games that require trigger sensitivity (mainly games that involve driving), but if you're looking at this product at all, you probably already knew that. If you want to play a racing game or GTA, you'll still want an unmodded controller for use with those. For everything else, if you're not attached to the feel of deep triggers or straight up dislike it, this is definitely a great solution. I'm taking one star off for the aforementioned defect and design choice, as well as for the unclear answers as far as addressing them, but really, if you just leave the R1/L2 pegs out of the mix, this mod should do exactly what you want it to do.

Easy install and no issues
Very satisfied with this. Ive been using it for about a week and i have no issue for the most part. All buttons work, install is simple; but you mist be careful when putting the trigger buttons in place. They insert at an sideways angle. After installation you may have trouble with the bumper buttons sticking. You can easily fix that by shaving down these small tabs on the triggers that get in the way of the bumper buttons. Its 2 small tabs on the top side of the triggers. Once theyre shaved flat there shouldnt be any problem.

Decent upgrade but needs fine tuning.
Decent upgrade but still has issues. My DualShock 4 is a JDM-050 version. Which states that this will work. The trigger stops for L2 & R2 where so tight you couldn’t press them. I followed the update video they posted which looks like many people have this issue. I used a razor blade to remove any extra plastic on the inserts still didn’t work. I tried a set of old generic triggers I had purchased from Amazon item # B07V4QHQKW for $5.00 and they worked perfect with the included inserts no trimming needed. The triggers are now working. **I would recommend getting the above part from Amazon because if you cut the 2 tiny pieces of plastic off the triggers themselves as they state in the updated video and push too hard on the triggers they pop off the controller when playing if pressed to hard.** The only issue now is that on games with multiple inputs needed at the same time it seems the membrane you replace the factory one with gets confused and doesn’t respond correctly or quick enough. I think the issue is on their membrane the contacts are much smaller than the factory ones. Thats why sometimes you have to press the button multiple times to get it to make a connection. Which really hurts a game with a lot of action or a lot of pressing of buttons simultaneously. Great product but just needs a little more fine tuning. If you come out with a version II I would love to try it out.

Close To Plug and Play, a Must Buy!
This kit is designed well and for the price in comparison to buying a custom controller they really can’t be beat. They also offer tons of different mods that can be installed while you have your controller apart so I would def look into that and make sure you’re doing everything you want at one time. The design of the triggers and the circuitry seems pretty solid and I believe durable bc it’s utilizing the same overall trigger hardware you already have. Fit and install were simple and really just require being able to follow directions. The company also has numerous YouTube video walkthroughs available where you can see the exact steps one at a time and make sure you’re doing it right. I know some of their other kits DO require soldering or more technical knowledge but that particular kit does not. It is literally just swapping some cables and reinstalling some screws. Easy as pie.

I bought one of these clicky hair trigger kits back in 2024 August, installed it and tested it to see it was working fine I hadn't used the controller for approx. a year, but when I came back to it, the L2 trigger wasn't working correctly due to an error with the PCB board. Despite it being over 11 months, I reached out to extremeRate and they were extremely helpful! They provided a brand new board for free which has been working perfectly. Customer service were very helpful, friendly, and easy going 👌 Have nothing to say but good words. Excellent product, excellent customer service.
