deshedding rake
I am so glad I ordered this along with the other deshedding tool (which does not work for long haired dogs). This does a fantastic job on our great pyrennes x maremma and chow x aussie gals. It is easy on mats, it gets down through tangles and both our gals, who don't like brushing seemed pleased to have me work on their coats with this tool. It appears very well made. I was a little hesitant to purchase this, as last year I'd bought a similar looking one at one of our local pet stores. It came apart with very little use.. Both gals were so matted and tangled, I was desperate , so I thought I'd give this one a try in case the de shedding one wouldn't work..Good call. I think this one will last a long time. The other tool ,which is called a furblaster ,professional deshedding tool and has long hair dog pictures in the ad definitely was a lost cause for my gals. I am also glad I ordered the furblaster though, as it does a great job for our short haired Doberman who was quite jealous of her "sisters" new "brush" and she loves to be brushed.

The best grooming tool for Pyr owners!
Excellent de-matting tool. I used it on our extremely large Great Pyrenees and our small Schnoodle. Both dogs responded favorably. This tool did an excellent job. Our Pyr can often get mats on his backside. It can take a colossal effort to groom his rear fluffy hair and long fluffy tail. Nothing we had worked to groom this area without a struggle and an unhappy dog. After some research, I ordered this tool from Amazon AND it is amazingly wonderful. I was able to completely comb the dog out in no time. It has a thumb rest which makes grooming easy on the wrist. A slow steady hand with a sideways motion while holding the comb worked best for safely. I would never want to rake the comb across the dogs skin. When a mat is encountered, sliding the comb back and forth while gently pulling through the mat worked best for us. We are veteran Pyr owners and this is the tool I have searched for to easily deal with thick dog hair and mats. And, our Schnoodle also tolerated grooming tool

East to use at a great price
Easy to hold & my dog doesn’t mind this type of tool vs a wired brush. A must have for dogs with a thick undercoat.

Does exactly what I had envisioned (before I knew it existed)!
Due to our neglect, our poor Maltese became severely matted and tangled, and I was brainstorming on what to use to remove the knots. Using scissors would be a long tedious endeavor. I didn't want to take him to the groomers, because they'll just buzz him down to the closest knot.I figured that I'll look for a guard for our electric clippers that would somehow "cut" through the knots without getting stuck before the actual clippers could cut the hair... as I searched on Amazon and found only stainless steel guards (but had no razor effect), I thought that was the end of that.I moved on to a search for a magic detangler spray, and found one that had good reviews, but it was also 30 plus dollars... but then, I saw this tool on the "other customers also bought" and thought "EXACTLY!". I cannot tell you how much of a coat-saver this tool has been, and only for 11 bucks!

Thoughts
I purchased this for a long haired cat who likes to just bum around. His hair likes to mat up do to his activity, so I retaliate with giving him a brushing every week or so. the Blades are positioned nicely to prevent hurting his skin.I'd recommend anyone in a situation like mine with a lazy long haired cat.I also tell you to stay away from it if you're cat has to serious of mats, like maybe multiple or to large.I gave it a 4, it prolly could have gotten a half if amazon had that feature. It serves its purpose and seems sturdy enough to not be replased.only con Is can tell so far is maybe it needed to be sharpened... I could probably use a small file (not the computer kind LoL)

Great brush...
...especially for dogs with really thick fur (we have Bernese Mountain dogs). Works really good when they start shedding their winter coat.Be careful, though... points on tines are kind of sharp. I filed them flat and then rounded them off a bit.

Good dematting tool still adjusting to it
I have a dog that does not shed. He's the first dog that I have had that didn't leave its fur on the floor. I would usually use scissors to break up matts. I was not uncommon for me to cut my finger during the grooming process. I am just beginning to use this dematting tool. I am still evaluating it. I have not cut myself while using it. Big plus. By dog doesn't seem to mind it. I would be happy to re evaluate it after I use it a little longer. It does take a little getting used to.

Great Tool For Poodles!
I recently started grooming our 65lb standard poodle. Her fur is very thick and prone to matting, even with regular brushing. The slicker brush only seems able to deal with the shorter areas, but this tool will cut through all of her matts easily, regardless of the length of fur or amount of matting. The teeth are quite sharp and will pull through the worst tangles she has. But the ends are blunted, so there's no risk of cutting her skin in the process. The overall design is very sturdy, and it works well from an ergonomic standpoint. Overall, this is the most essential of all the grooming tools I own - I literally could not groom my poodle effective without it.

Not sharp
This would be a great tool in theory but it didn't work for me. It just pulled the hair out of my goldendoodle. Maybe if the blades were Sharp it could cut through the mats. Returned for refund.
