🦋 Bring the beauty of nature indoors with a flutter of fun!
The Monarch 'My Butterfly' Jar is a captivating decorative piece that features a realistic butterfly that flutters inside a glass jar. Measuring approximately 17 cm x 9.5 cm x 9.5 cm, it operates on 3 AAA batteries (included) and can be activated by tapping the jar or through ambient sound. The butterfly dances for about 90 seconds before entering an energy-saving standby mode, making it a delightful and low-maintenance addition to your home or office.

Novel, Innovative and Fantastic value for money.
This product works as advertised. I've had people ask me if the butterfly 'was' alive when they see it flapping around from a distance. It's VERY receptive to taps on the head of the jar, the sides and to thumps and vibrations on my work-desk too. What works:* From a distance, the butterfly looks realistic. It flaps around vigorously, flutters, and flits all around the jar VERY, VERY realistically.* The attention to detail on the butterfly is exhaustive. The overall build quality is sturdy and feels very solid.* The jar is sensitive to taps. Note that it's not overtly sensitive (which would then drive you crazy), but is sensitive enough to ensure it responds to taps and strong vibrations and thumps from your desk.* The original packaging and the setup is as displayed in the product detail page. What 'kinda' works:* The jar gives the trick away and screams out that the butterfly inside is fake.* The wire is visible from about five feet away and is unlike what is depicted in the picture.* The manual and documentation (although unnecessary) are non-existent and you have to keep going back to the packaging to ensure you haven't missed anything important.* One, two and three taps (not necessarily in that order) are meant to make the butterfly flap, flutter and flit around, but it doesn't work like that all the time. I 'personally' like the randomness though.Overall:I loved this product for the novelty that it offers, the price that it comes at and the entertainment (initial at least) that it provides. Note however, that the novelty wears off soon. That being said, it's a great gift for kids and toddlers as long as they don't end up breaking it!

Intriguing. A steal for the price.
I bought this novelty for my three year old son, who, incidentally, is quite the little nature nut. I was rather skeptical of the item despite favorable reviews. However, when I opened the box to inspect it before putting Christmas wrapping on it, I was rather dazzled. Even my husband, who doesn't care a jot for such things found himself intrigued by this butterfly. The movements are so lifelike, as are the sounds of the wings grazing the inside of the jar. The filament to which the butterfly is attached is as close to invisible as one can get. The jar looks just like a Mason jar one might use to catch butterflies in. We have it sitting on our window sill and the butterfly responds to the slightest of movement (someone setting down a plate on the counter near the sill etc.).I have no doubt this will be a conversation piece for everyone who sees it, and perhaps the best thing about the butterfly is that it will sometimes sit in a pause mode with its wings slowly pulsing in and out...just like you would witness in nature when a butterfly lands somewhere. Two words for this product: SUPER COOL. Whether you are looking for a gift for a three year old or a fifty year old, this might just be the perfect thing for that person who already has everything.I can't speak for its durability just yet, as we have only had it for one day, but even if it only lasts a month (as one reviewer complained), it would be well worth the cost. Fantastic!

Fooled an Engineer!
I purchased this for my almost 4 year old son who is showing an interest in science and of course- bugs. When I pulled it out of the box, I was impressed with how well it was packaged (for protection) and as soon as I pressed the demo button- I was amazed at how realistic this is! I immediately showed my husband who is an electronics engineer, and he couldn't believe that it was a robot butterfly! I asked him, "How did they do that?" I always love his geeky explanations, lol, and he said, "I'm gonna have to take it apart to check it out." Ummm, yikes!A cool gift basket suggestion:I am also giving my son a Insect Lore Live Butterfly Garden for his birthday. In case you are unfamiliar: it is a container that will house butterflies and comes with free caterpillars that you send for through the mail. Your child can watch the metamorphosis step by step. I am also giving a book From Caterpillar to Butterfly Big Book (Let's-Read-and-Find-Out Science 1) which is a great companion since it explains the metamorphosis. I think it is a fun combo with this electronic butterfly since this butterfly is ready from day 1 and will not die, but the others are real and will change before him!I KNOW he is going to love this, heck I can't stop playing with it... now only to keep the hubs from taking it apart! As soon as this arrived, I jumped right back on the computer and ordered more for my nieces (I already had purchased the other items for them). I highly recommend!!

BEST CAT TOY EVER
BEST CAT TOY EVER!!!! I was skeptical when I bought this for my cat's birthday present, but it turned out great!! Keeps her entertained and she can easily make it turn on and fly around by just tapping the jar so she can play/watch it when I'm not home. Seriously anyone who has a cat, needs this!!!! The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star review is because the lid is slightly dented on my jar. Everything still works, doesn't affect it other than appearance.

One has to thump it frequently to get the butterfly ...
One has to thump it frequently to get the butterfly movement (for my cat). The lid must be firmly screwed into place in order for the mechanism to work but the lid is very difficult to have 'catch' the grooves properly. I would say, not worth the cost.

Great fun item
Very well made and a great talking point. The Jar is very nice and looks lovely on my 8yr olds shelf, she loves watching it flutter.I will say however dont put it on a window sill as it slightly ruins the illusion. If you are looking for something to keep your child amused for hours then this isn't it but if you want something with a little magic then this is well worth the money.

täuschend echt!
Sehr sehr schönes Dekoobjekt, täuschend echt, Verwechslungen garantiert, auch vom klanglichen sehr echt (Flatter-töne). Der Hingucker auf jedem Schreibtisch! Sehr schöner Schmetterling, in orange größer als in gelb. Beide aber wirklich sehr schön.
