Great curb appeal
It would have been nice if the flowers could have a way to be watered from the rain when the water is coming down through the gutter. because it is under a 3' soffit...the flowers have to be manually watered. 😔

Worth it to me
All rain barrels are difficult to install if you want them to look nice, and this was no exception. I re-designed this one to have a higher overflow valve on the side instead of the middle, and I had to re-arrange the hose to more conveniently exit on the opposite side. I put attractive bricks underneath in order to get good water pressure, and was challenged to get them level. I still need to re-arrange the guttering to fill the barrel and I want to put a hose holder on the side and install a flat top over the indented built-in flower pot. This is my third rain barrel, so I knew what I was getting into, and I must say this one is looking BEAUTIFUL beside my patio, and is already worth all the effort I put into finding and installing it.

Slightly disappointing - for me, anyway.
The rain barrel itself is well-designed, good-looking, and fits together well. I do not like the overflow tube, which is actually a fairly rigid piece of corrugated plastic. The pictures imply an expanding hose that lies nicely in the groove in the back of the unit and tucks underneath. This isn't exactly true; the tube does not have an elbow (which is what the drawing that comes with it shows), and bending it into a 90 degree angle still leaves it out of the groove. Also, the round tube is too rigid and slightly too long to slide completely into the flat space underneath. I wanted this to butt up flush to a 6"x6" post so I could hide the groove and the overflow tube, so to do that I'll try to find an 90 degree elbow that fits, and I'll trim the tube down so it fits underneath. Would have been nice if it was like the picture instead - I guess it's my fault for making silly assumptions. This is a nice unit, and if you want to leave it a few inches out from whatever it sits in front of then go for it. Just be prepared to do some work if you want it to fit flush.

Looks nice but parts don't match.
The large overflow line does not easily attach and since it is much larger than the outflow pipe it kept coming off. Bought a smaller bilge pump line from the local hardware store. Outflow pipe needs a 90 degree bend in it so it can be put directly up against a building. Also, I had to build a screen to keep bigger leaves out of the tank. Another trip to the hardware store. The finished product does look nice I just wish it held more than 40 gals.

I love the way this rain catcher looks and that the top is a flower pot but that's about it. Needs to be almost half full for water to flow out of the hose steadily. The hose and connection are poorly designed and constantly leak. Also you need about a foot clearance behind it or the hose kinks up and stops flowing. Lastly when the barrel is full it bulges out and takes on a more rounded look.

Good looks but poorly designed hose interface
Very disappointed. Aside from being very overpriced, plastic is thin and not as sturdy as other Mayne products we have purchased (single walled vice double). Hose attach point at bottom is poorly designed - recessed area makes it difficult to tighten the clamp, no lip to prevent slippage, and truly should be a mechanical interface (spigot) instead of a hose and clamp, which seems bound to fail under 40 gallons of water pressure, and did on the first rain the day we installed it. The overflow tube is also poor, apparently the blue hose in the picture isn't made anymore, which is a mystery - it should be smooth, not corrugated. Overall it looks beautiful, but will now have to modify and install a spigot when for this price it should be ready to go. Would not buy this again!
