VonageDigitalVoice Service

Vocal quality is horrendous and company loops you into long term plans with heavy cancellation fees.
A ridiculous service that over promises and under delivers. After the first month of use, I stopped using it all together because my cell phone provided better quality audio. Then, when I called to cancel, I found out they had looped me into a year long plan with heavy cancellation fees so I attempted to make it work. No success. The company should actually be prosecuted for fraud because the voice quality is so terrible.

They tried to keep me from cancelling my account
I've been a fairly well satisfied Vonage customer for 7 years. I have had trouble with intermittent poor line quality, but it has never been clear whether this is a problem with my ISP. I've often found that the quality of customer service is poor, but I've not had alot of reason to call them except to make changes in my service. However, when, after porting out my phone number and making sure it worked on the new phone service, I called Vonage to cancel my service, they made it very difficult to cancel service, gave me a very hard time, and tried not to cancel my service. This was month to month service; I did not have a contract, and I did not expect a partial refund for cancelling in mid month. I actually cancelled the day before the month ended. You can't just cancel service online. I called customer service. First I got someone who insisted that my number hadn't been ported out. I checked to make sure the port was complete and the phone number working correctly on my new phone service before trying again. Then I learned that while all other Vonage customer service is available 24/7, you have to call between certain hours and talk to a special office to cancel service. Then when I called back, the customer service person insisted I tell her why I want to cancel service before she would transfer me, and I had to shout at her four times that I don't have to tell her anything, transfer me, and she actually transferred me when I told her I'd changed my payment method to a card with insufficient money available for Vonage to get their hands on it. When she put me through, a Chinese guy kept demanding to know why I was cancelling my service, and insisting that I had to do cooperations with him, before he would cancel my service. I had to shout at him six times that I don't have to tell him anything, I don't have to cooperate with him, cancel my service, NOW. He finally cancelled my service when I told him that I changed my payment method to a card with no funds available, and Vonage won't be able to get any more money from me, ever. The whole experience was completely outrageous, and at this moment, I can't recommend anything about Vonage to anybody.

vonage phone line a joke
I called vonage to set up a phone line for my daughter who lives in another state, my order was processed by someone in some latin country I was told that in order to get Vonage phone service, I would need Earthlink, he quoted me a monthly price of $9.99 for the first 3 months and $26.99, after that, he also quoted me $14.95 for first three months and $39.95 after that from Earthlink, he processed my order and gave me a pre-order number for earthlink, and instructed me to call 855-235-8070 to process my order with Earthlink, while on the phone with him, I checked my email and noticed I got an email from a third party internet service provider based out of Saida – Lebanon, which turned out to be the company the number was for, this number was answered just by saying hello, no introduction, the phone didn't even ring, I asked if this was earthlink, he told me no, I asked again and he said the number to earthlink is 888-327-8454, I called, it was some recording asking if I was over 50 and if I had insurance. what a joke, I then googled earthlink and came up with a number of 888-328-5885, I called this call was answered in India, ( there goes all of our work oversees) the woman was rude, and when I explained I was setting up an account with Vonege and had a pre-order number she didn't want it and proceeded to ask me for my phone number and address she quoted me a price of $29.99 for the first three months and $45.95 excluding taxes thereafter, I told her no thank you and hung up on her. I called vonage back, was answered by someone in America, I told him I wanted to cancel the account I had just placed he asked me why and transferred me to a recorded message saying I would have to wait 7 days before cancelling, I called back, and went through the process as if I were to set up a new account, I was answered by some one in Asia, she asked me for my secondary number which I was not asked for when I originally processed the order, I gave her both my home number and my cell number she said these were not on the account, I told her I was not asked for a secondary number and just wanted to cancel my order and get refunded for the first month which they charged me $12.38, she said I would be getting a refund with in 3-5 days. what a joke I don't recommend anyone get this service, they are a bunch of rip offs..
