Great drum, consistent sound and very meditative
The media could not be loaded. ย I already have the D beatrise 15 note drum, got this on a whim so I can try out a different sounding drum. I have heard others play this one and the tonal quality is interesting and different from the 15 note one. And yeah it is really nice sounding and different. One thing I like about this one also is that the higher tongues resonate more and sounds better than the 15 note one. However, I guess you do lose one note in the middle which is a bummer.I had mispurchased a c key companion drum from hluru before that I can also use with this one now to extend its higher range as you can see in the photo :). Anyways, all in all its a great purchase for me and now I alternate between playing this and my 15note drum!

Excellent for the money.
I have a RAV Vast, which I consider to be the ultimate - yet I still really like this drum, and it sits on a stand in my living room so it gets played a lot. It has a soft, sweet sound, and even sounds pretty when my toddler plays it. Iโve bought a lot of tongue drums, and this is my second favorite, which is saying a lot.

Sounded 'tinny' and had dead notes
I purchased what looked like the best options of a few of these steel tongue drums, in these general sizes, from a few different brands so that I could compare and find the best one. Here's what I found out:::BeatRise, both the 13" and the 14" drums -have 'tinny' sound to them and both had dead notesBerning&Lin 14" - sounded 'tinny', dead notes, and the weaving around the edges wasn't staying on.SMAUTOP 14" -came the closest to keeping this one. Its sound was a bit better but still had dead notes. I was also impressed with all of the stuff that came with it. It's like they like their customers. ;)Then I watched videos from people who know a bit more about this stuff and were making recommendations. I found out that bigger isn't necessarily better. You get more notes, but the shape and material differs from the smaller ones in a way that seems to make a real difference. I decided to sacrifice some notes and try a couple of 12" drums, from the list of recommendations.I tried::Harmonic Star Steel Tongue Drum 10" - it was really nice! the sound was sweet and if I hadn't tried the next one then I might've been happy with this one. It did have a little bit of a dead note, and was hard to get it to register well on the higher notes in general.and then,Rakumi,12" 'lotus' drum - This was the clear winner. And because it was the very last one I tried, I was sure glad I didn't give up or settle! The price wasn't too bad and totally worth it. It was the only one out of all of them that I tried that had ZERO dead notes. And it had the prettiest, fullest and most resonant tone. It also has a large cutout at the bottom so that you can get in there with magnets and tune it to another key. So basically, it's perfect. I'm honestly in love with it.For anyone comparing the options and wondering, I hope this helps!

Beautiful, but definitely not a professional instrument
I am a musician and my drum arrived today. I give it three stars, but all of the stars are for the physical beauty of the instrument. I plan to keep it for that reason alone to keep it on display in my music room.Unfortunately, I will be searching for another tongue drum manufacturer to actually play for the following reasons:- It is out of tune. One note in particular (#4) never makes a clear tone at all, and several others are out of tune.- The notes are not arranged in a way that makes logical sense. The notes are physically awkward and it would not be as intuitive to learn as some other layouts that I have seen on other brands.- The final disappointment is that it's not very resonant... meaning you MUST use mallots on this drum to get decent sound, unless you're going to beat up your hands by striking the drum extremely hard. This seriously limits your musical options and is the reason why I don't consider it a professional instrument. That being said, it's really, really pretty.

This is not an instrument that I would ever buy again.
The drum is beautiful and has a calming sound. That being said, my issues are: #1 There was very little instruction included to help me learn to play it. #2. The music that was included was extremely minimal. #3 I play several instruments and understand how the notes are in a logical order in all of them. The placement of notes on the drum are not in any kind of order that I could see. #4. There is no way to be able to use even the simplest sheet music with this instrument. It requires โplay by numbersโ making it more of a toy than an for instrument an adult. I was very disappointed.
