Dumbing down of previous version
This item is adequate for it's purpose but is very much a dumbing down of the previous version which appears to no longer be available. The previous version, which I still have, is of a better quality with two deep inside pockets and two deep, zipped outside pockets. This newer version has two outside pockets only, with neither zip nor velcro fastening to them and seem designed to let the rain into them. It's generally not as good a fit either, compared to the previous version. It protects adequately from the rain but it remains a huge disappointment from it's predecessor. Definitely not a case of 'new and improved'. There are better emergency wet weather jackets out there.

Excellent lightweight waterproof jacket
I was pleasantly surprised with this jacket and how well it performs, given the budget price tag. I have worn it in several heavy showers and have remained perfectly dry. The breathability out performs some higher end jackets I have, and not once has this coat got damp on the inside, even after prolonged use and after running. The fabric is incredibly thin and lightweight but also very hardwearing. I agree with other users about the pockets letting it down. I find the rear entry pocket design tends to gape open when walking. A popper or velcro strip would have been good idea. I felt mean dropping a star for this as I am so impressed with the material.I purchased the Magma Orange colour as I fancied a change from the usual black. It is just as shown in the image and also bright enough to improve visibility when walking/running at night. I am a pretty standard medium size and this fits perfectly.I am so impressed with the jacket that I might be taking this on my next hike, around the SW Coast Path, as it is lightweight and performs excellently.Little tip: Following use, zip it up and pop it in the dryer on low for about 5 minutes, and it comes out like new.Very happy.

Kept me dry!
Went on a 5 hour hike with this coat & was generally impressed. Fit well, I'm a slim 5'11/6" & decided to go for size M which was perfect for me. Got caught in some really tough conditions - flash raining & high speed winds, and this coat kept me dry & warm! The carry bag was an extra little bonus that I liked, easy to travel with. Only reason I won't give this 5* is the pockets aren't zipped so can't really keep any belongings safe. Also one of the pocket seems had teared slightly.Overall pleased with the coat & will use it on my next hike.

Disappointed
I have an older version of this that is excellent and really good quality, in comparison to this one. I wanted a new one and a slightly bigger size, but boy was I disappointed with this as a replacement, it is going straight back, it's just such an inferior product in comparison.Yes this one is very lightweight and packable, these are the only positives.I've not worn it outside nor in the rain so cannot comment on how waterproof it is.The wrists are elasticated, however your wrist needs to be very large in the first place for the elastic to work, far too wide! Yes I am a woman buying a man's garment, but I prefer the looser fit, just not this baggy and loose around the wrists. The old style version has zips on the pockets, the pockets on this are virtually useless as they are just open pockets to put your hands in.The quality is shocking for the price, yes I know £15ish isn't expensive, but this is more like something you'd get for a fiver.I was so looking forward to owning a nice bright new Regatta waterproof for all these lovely showers, but alas this was not to be, it's just such a poor quality product, it's back to the drawing board to get a good quality one from a shop I guess?!

Excellent waterproof jacket
This is an excellent lightweight jacket and having worn it in heavy rain, I can confirm it really is waterproof. What’s more, it didn’t make me sweat much. Very impressed. I recommend it strongly.

Not as good as the old version. OK for single use, don't expect more.
An infinitely poorer implementation than the previous version. Sure, it's more lightweight, but in the same manner as single use plastic is to something a bit more sturdy. It claims to be waterproof, but leaked at the zip on its first use. It feels very cheap and flimsy, with a hint that the first stretch will rip it. The main problem versus the superior previous version is the removal of the internal pockets. The next problem is the gaping flaps that call themselves exterior pockets. They are not waterproof and flood easily. Any items stored in these pockets will get wet and most likely will fall out as there is no fastener whatsoever.Avoid this if you can, otherwise prepare for a wafer thin plastic bag-esque jacket which allows water in an promotes sweat.

Performed excellently and happy overall.
This performed excellently on a walk up Snowdon. Packs up small and lightweight when stowed, but kept me dry in light rain and sleet. It also did well keeping keeping me warm; I could definitely feel the wind proofing when I put it over the fleece jacket I was wearing. I didn't get too hot wearing it, though I'm not sure if that is down to the jackets 'breath-ability' or the chilly windy conditions of the day.I think it did a good job of keeping me dry in a downpour on another day, but I'm not 100% as the rest of me was soaked and probably put some damp on the inside when I took it off. I certainly wasn't soaked through where I had the jacket on.The only thing I would say lets it down is that the pockets could be a bit better. There's no zip etc and it is easy for rain to get into them.
