This device saved my grandson's life from a SIDs event!
My daughter is a pediatric RN so I wanted to gift her something at Christmas to ease her fears given she sees the worst of the worse situations with newborns at work. I honestly didn't think it would amount to anything beyond another safety control that was nice to have but, in the end, was put in a box and forgotten when the baby turns into a child. My grandson had a SIDs event and this device saved his life. He was asleep on his dad's chest while momma was next to them. The base turned red and gave off a loud siren that woke both of them from their slumber. The little guy was a limp noodle (which still haunts my daughter) but she was able to resuscitate him. I can't even think of what would have happened if they woke from their nap with a deceased child on his chest. I've known families who suffered loss from SIDs so this hit very close to home. Thank you Owlet for your product.

Pediatrician recommended this and it has helped lower my anxiety.
Although we are on our 5th child, my anxiety did not go away when I laid my new baby down at night or for a nap. We decided to order the Owlet mostly for pulse ox feature. A few days after the Owlet arrived I was telling the pediatrician about my anxiety with SIDS and she recommended, without prompting, the Owlet. I’m not sure she knew about the gen 3 version but I felt like it was confirmation of a good purchase. They sock is easy to place and charge (it took one night to figure out the right tightness but the Owlet plays a song that lets you know if it is loose or has slipped off.) The sock is really soft material and the baby does not seem to notice it. It has 2 socks per size to switch off so the foot won’t get sore. Set up is pretty easy with prompts from the app once you figure out the WiFi settings. I used to get up numerous times to walk across our room or to the baby’s room to check to see if the baby was breathing, sometimes accidentally waking her up. Now I just look over at the my phone and check her pulse and breathing. My sleep has definitely improved and my anxiety has been relieved. So far we are very happy with the Owlet and it has really helped with my fear of leaving the baby unattended.

Anxious parents, this is the product for you!
I really don’t understand the bad reviews. I’m pretty sure the bad reviews come from either people who got the rare bad product...or don’t have much between the ears. I think most are the latter. I too was skeptical about buying this but my husband noticed my anxiety surrounding my daughter’s bizarre sleeping habits and bought this set on a whim the other day. She just learned to roll, and has been flipping from back to tummy in her sleep. Sometimes I’d catch her with her face in the mattress. Many sleepless nights checking her, moving her (which would usually wake her up), abs rocking her back to sleep. I’ve lost a child before, not to SIDS, but it only fuels the anxiety to make sure nothing happens to her. Anyway...Set up: easy peasy. The app walks you through everything. No issues there.Putting the sock on: pretty obvious how it fits. Even shows you where exactly to place it on baby’s foot. Make sure you use the right sock size and put it on snug but not too tight. My daughter doesn’t seem to even notice it. Fits under her socks or footie pajamas just fine.Camera quality: based on the reviews I was expecting some resolution like an old Nokia flip phone. No. Quality is great, even with night vision. I guess the other bad reviews were expecting some 4K high-def camera, but I wasn’t. It’s fine. I can see what position she’s in, if her eyes are open or not, and it detects motion and sound fine, even with her rain sounds playing in the background. Both motion and sound sensitivity are adjustable in the app. Really pleased. The app: App Store has some bad recent reviews, but again, I have no major issues with it. Seems to send notifications just fine (only been sound and motion so far). I can’t flip it horizontally to see the cam otherwise it goes black, but only on my phone and not my iPad. iPad seems to be just fine. I can still see her fine on the smaller window on my phone. I can see how well she’s sleeping and other stats for her naps and nighttime which is pretty cool.Overall: it’s a lot of money. I know. But my sanity is pretty well saved, and so is my husband’s now that I’m not up all night watching her. And she sleeps better now that I’m not messing with her all the time. I am still adamant about other SIDS mitigation protocol, but this just reassures me she’s alright during this new rolling over phase. I’d buy it again, definitely. My only regret is we didn’t buy it sooner.

Product stuck in the past and poor user experience
Summary- no 5GHz, bad reception compared to all other devices, bad picture quality, terrible pairing experience, no Airplay. Would NOT recommend to anyone.Details -Pairing was a nightmare on Eero Pro wifi. Can only pair if the planets align. Owlet must be on same 2.4Ghz network as your phone, and might still fail for any number of mysterious reasons.I followed all instructions, made sure it was on 2.4 Ghz rather than 5GHz (this is not straightforward on Eero Pro), made sure it was on the same physical wifi router as my phone by disconnecting all others in the mesh, triple checked everything, and it still refused to pair. Totally unacceptable in this day and age. Then we tried my wife’s phone on a whim and it finally worked - same network, same iOS version, everything same, except it refuses to pair on my phone. Now that it’s paired it works, but the wifi antenna is garbage. Every other device in my house has full signal strength but this little cam shows “fair” wifi signal in the exact same spot as other devices with full signal. The picture quality is poor, and does not have any way to enhance a zoomed image the way that Dropcam used to when I used it a few years ago.Feels like a step backwards in time for technology.Owlet also does not support Airplay speakers. I wanted to use Owlet to pipe in the sound from the baby’s room to various wifi speakers throughout the house, but this is not possible, because their technology is in the Stone Age.Have not tried the “sock” yet but not sure why I would bother.

Premium product but not for everyone
Our little boy is nearly 9 months old now and we’ve been managing with a security camera as a baby monitor. We’d been meaning to get something “proper” for a while and we finally made the jump to Owlet. Whilst certainly on the dear side it appeared to tick all the boxes. Live video monitoring (not the 10 second delay I have on my security camera!), in built room temperature and audio monitoring. Your mobile phone acts as the receiver and you can have the audio running in the background with the app closed. Perfect. My monitor, GroEgg thermometer and security can be tidied away and I’ve just got one product. This particular version also includes the smart sock which monitors babies heart rate, oxygen level and sleep pattern.Unfortunately the reality for us didn’t quite work out. The smart sock is well designed but maybe we were trying something too late down the line as our boy was not happy with it on. He tugged and tugged at it so we ended up leaving it off. The camera was initially great. Really clear with different image quality options. Room temperature showed on the app screen too so it was doing everything we needed it to. But then it kept cutting out down to poor WiFi signal. This was odd given the makeshift camera we’d been using had been fine not to mention the other WiFi connected products we use in the Nursery from time to time.WiFi issues aside I feel like if we’d bought this product sooner when baby was younger it’d have worked out better. I’d still recommend this product but I’d definitely check your WiFi signal is strong.

Perfect choice for peace of mind
After being given lots of recommendations from friends and family about the best baby monitor we decided to go with Owlet smart sock 3. The reassurance the smart sock gives in monitoring heart rate and oxygen were key stand out features for us and the two way audio and video is also great. The smart sock 3 is a no brainier upgrade from v2 with the wireless drop and go charging, fitting baby from 5lbs to 30lbs giving us longevity of use and the increased distance the sock can be from the base station is very practical. Set up of the full system was simple (once we figured out some of our own internet problems - we changed our internet from 5 ghz to 2.4 ghz and it worked instantly) and the app is great and really easy to use. The camera and sock are also a great design / look good which always helps! Very happy with our choice, giving us extra peace of mind with all the monitoring when baby is asleep if we are in the house or out (with babysitters of course!).

Too many errors
Brought this for our first baby. We wanted the benefits of the sock and a camera. Despite being expensive we felt it was worth it for peace of mind.To be fair, despite being difficult to set up, the sock has worked ok, although there is a long delay on both sock and camera. Also, on rare occasions when the camera has actually worked, the camera picture is ok at night (I wouldn't say it was HD, despite saying it is).The app is reasonably easy to navigate, but only allows one account holder, which simply isn’t practical nor secure in 2021 when there are multiple carers for each child. However, the camera has never worked effectively. As soon as it loses connection, a long conversation with customer services ensues, with several hard resets, removing the device and adding it again. All whilst trying to get a baby to sleep in a dark room (surprisingly, the camera flashes and has loud voice alerts on set up). Our baby also moves between houses and you have to do the same hard reset each time you move (bizarrely the sock is fine). There have also been several occasions where the Owlet has been down centrally and they have not bothered to send out a notification, nor will customer services tell you until you’ve tried resetting several times. It is a shame, as when it works it is ok (sock is good, so 2 stars for that; camera is ok). But we are unimpressed with the camera and Owlet’s support, so have now just purchased a cheaper option which is easy to use and just works.

Reassuring, love it
We got this monitor for our newborn. She is currently 13 days old and we have been using it since she came home at less than 24 hours old. I love it as the sock has definitely given me some reassurance when she is sleeping, even though she is right next to me I find it great to be able to look at her breathing and oxygen levels. The sock is easy to fit and has a good battery life. She has kicked it off once or twice but that was the first couple of times we were using it so I think we just didn’t have it on right. It fits well under a sleep suit. The camera has a really clear picture and I like that it gives you room temperature also the only downfall I find is that occasionally it loses the connection when we try opening it on our phone, generally it comes back quickly enough. For now it hasn’t bothered me as I’m usually only nipping to the bathroom etc as otherwise in the same room as our daughter but maybe it will when she is sleeping all night in her own room. On w positive though even when the camera loses connection the sock doesn’t so I still know she is ok.Overall I love it and while expensive it eases some of my anxiety at bedtime and allows me to get more sleep too

Great quality clear view monitor
I’ve really loved this camera, although the set up was a little difficult. It took a while to connect to my phone but once it was sorted it automatically logged in on my tablet and other devices which is great so no matter what device I had I can check the safety of my baby. It has a fantastic temperature monitor and is discreet so fits in well on our nursery. We have used command strips temporarily to keep it up and due to it being light weight has been perfect and secure. We love that it comes with self adhesive trunking to keep the wires safe too. It’s so easy to manoeuvre when we need to. Would recommend to any new family’s or anyone looking for something different to monitor their baby.
