It's just amazing
I backpack a lot. I've accrued a lot of backpacking gear. Aside from my Osprey and my socks, this hammock is the best piece of equipment I own. Would recommend.

The Best I Have Used Yet
First let me start with ,I have been a backpacker for a long time and I search endlessly for gear that is better in one way or another. I own several Hennessey Hammocks from the scout to the Explorer and an Expedition. I also have a Clark NX270. I got the Backpacker UL to try out for the weight savings. It is the same size as the Expedition but weighs in at 1 pound 12 Oz on my scale with the rain fly and snake skins attached. The Clark and the Explorer both weigh the same at 3 pounds 14 oz. The Expedition came in at 2 pounds 10 oz. Anything you can do to save a pound of weight is worth it . I took it out on a 3 day trip for it's first run to find out if it stood up to what I expect from a hennessey hammock. It did with flying colors. The Asem. Design still allows me to sleep flat on my back, on my side or even almost on my stomach. I thought the sil nylon would let the air pass threw too much but that was not a problem. It has about the same breathing properties as the others. It seems to have a somewhat larger fly on it but I have not confirmed that yet. Because of the weight savings I can take the Hex fly along if heavy rains are forcasted and still come out lighter than taking any of the rest of the hammocks. It is well made and appears to be as tough as my Clark but at 1/3 the weight. This backpacker hammock will be the go to hammock for all my trips now . .. unless I plan on camping in a blizzard In 0 degree weather or during a hurricane. The Clark is still king for the worst conditions like that . The Backpacker is perfect for any thing normal to just at extreme weather conditions.

Great Hammock - BUT it needs a new rope system
The Hennessy is a great design for backpacking and gives good protection from rain with the ample rain fly.But it continues to use a system of parachute-cord lines to attach it to trees.Because these are so cumbersome and get tangled, Hennessey created its own fix called "snake skins" which look just like their name and slide over the many cords so that they don't get tangled up in your pack when stored and carried ( the "snake skins" are an extra cost)But then there is the problem of tying the hammock to a tree. The line is so small that it does not purchase well to a tree trunk, and if you do get it attached, but make the wrong knot, it will get pulled too tight to unite. This is such a problem that there are Youtube programs that suggest fixes. One guy from Australia suggests using some metal rings used in rock climbing. I tried this method ( again at additional cost) and it does work. But now I have a hammock, "snake skins", and some climbing hardware in my pack and I'm thinking there must be an easier way.I bought an Eagles Nest Hammock and found that it comes with carabiner clips ( Hennessey does not) and a tree wrap system that grips the tree easily and adjusts to size. No knots, no extra hardware, no "snakes skins" and it set up in MUCH less time.I like the Hennessey design, but they need to let go of the rope system and the odd "skins" that only highlight that there is a problem.

Think about it
The quarter inch 'rope 'as it's called , is probably the reason the tree huggers in California have shut off Hammock Camping in some state parks .if you use a Hennessy(or small rope/cord) ,please use straps!!!! The Hennessy is comfortable

Fantastic hammock
I have been using one of these for 5 years or so...now I'm going off of my motorcycle, so not backpacking but I love this hammock!!! I use the double bottom and 2 pads for more insulation and never get cold ...also had a mishap with my first one... all my falt... sent it back to get fixed, they could not figure out how to fix it so, they sent me a new one when I told them it was my falt...they said no problem we want you happy, here's a brand new one. Outstanding customer service ..thank you Hennessy for a fantastic product!!!

Hang it all out
Regrading hanging the HH, it comes with a system of tree straps and a number easy types of lashings to secure it. No knots needed. I have used a HH for several years now and have never gone back to a tent. Easy to adapt for winter camping also. Thanks Tom and everyone at HH. BTW time to get a new one.

Perfect item for portage trips
Perfect item for portage trips. I don't miss my tent at all... super lightweight and comfortable. Used this with a thin self-inflatable sleeping pad to help with warmth on my underside and body positioning. It took one or two nights to fully get used to sleeping in, but now I'm looking for excuses to set it up so I can spend more time in it! =D

Replaced my tent
Took some time to get used to. Durable, lightweight. Velcro feature is awesome. You need a sleeping pad or underquilt for this if you're in cold weather.
