Makes a great gift for the new law student
I purchased this book when I heard about it from some colleagues. After I finished reading it, I wished I would have had the opportunity to read it when I attended college. The book provides some down-to-earth, "Yes, you can" guidance for the new student. I just purchased a second copy for my granddaughter who is considering attending law school. I am sure the information presented in this book will be a great benefit to her as she pursues this next adventure in her life.

Great for incoming law students
Really good book to read when preparing to being law school. I start my JD in a week and I feel I will definitely learned a lot from reading this and will be looking back to it frequently as a reminder and resource for helpful tips on how to succeed in law school and practice.

Very helpful and entertaining
While this was required reading for law school orientation, it is an exceptional read, and I understand why it was assigned. It gets you into the law school mindset in an expedient manner, and never allowing it to become boring.

Excellent "insider information"
Excellent "insider information" and tips for prospective law school students or for those considering law school. The book progresses logically and reinforces the main themes of how to prepare effectively for and succeed in law school. I've applied the concepts of "framing" and "bias" to successfully persuade professionals to my viewpoint. Recommended reading.

Okay, so you think you know it all. After all, you got into law school with a substantial scholarship. You're likely already ahead of the rest, right? I would have to say the most humbling experiences might be in law school. Throw a bunch of A-type overachievers into one realm (the law school classrooms) and watch and see who becomes victorious as the law school hunger games begin.Professor Herald brilliantly articulates the Egocentric Bias and how no one law school student escapes its effect. "People tend to overestimate the effect of bias on others' decisions, while denying their own." - This is just one of many insightful, well thought out discussions she dissects in her book. This is a must read for any prospective student and those matriculating into the legal profession. The book is an eye-opening read for any student that seemed to receive grades that didn't match up with their 100% efforts. Professor Herald explains what the common pitfalls are and helps guide you through that windy bumpy road that is law school. I highly recommend this insightful and well thought out manual to success in law school.
