The Oratorio Anthology: The Vocal Library Baritone/Bass

It is a very useful and reasonably priced anthology, consisting of about half Baroque period and half Romantic period arias, including some seldom heard gems like "Honor and Arms." The previous review of the Messiah arias not being exact to the original Messiah score is correct, but the editorial changes are mostly in the accompaniment, and not so significant that they could not be used as stand-alone solos or auditions pieces. I recommend this book as an inexpensive addition to any bass/baritone library. I bought it for myself to replace a very old and worn-out sacred anthology book that I have had since high school (grad. class of 1980) by G. Schirmer.

The book arrived on time and in perfect condition. As a singer, it is always a little nerve-racking to order books/ music online...but I was not disappointed. All of the pages are in pristine condition and the book is complete. Thank you!

Richard Walters anthologies are excellent

Great condition

It's a very good book, covering many of the basics and several forgotten masterpieces. Puccini's Crucifixus from his Messa di Gloria is a good example of the fantastic forgotten works that are in here. The versions of Handel's Messiah are not correct, however. They are from an easy version for students; so if you are looking to do any Messiah, then get a copy of the score and not this book.
