Best NES-inspired case out there!
Other cases out there that look like this one, but Retroflag does it best! Easy to build and looks great. The power & reset buttons have that satisfying click when you push them in. My favorite part about this case though is that the bottom piece of the console can store microsd cards when not in use. I have different dedicated builds on different sd cards (lightgun, vertical arcade, etc.) so having a place to store those little cards is nice, especially when youre trying to showcase different builds to people. Highly recommend!

THE PERFECT NES STYLED CASE!!!!!
This is about the updated version without the USB 3.0 on the front, which in my opinion is the best one, though others may differ. This is the be all end all of NES styled cases.I appreciate Pi console cases that are accurate to the retro console they're styled after, and this one has everything I could have hoped! It's even better than what Nintendo did for their NES Classic! It has the right proportions, materials and textures for the plastics, and the buttons press in and out just like the original NES console, which the NES Classic didn't exactly do for the reset button. The fact that I can just put a little SSD cartridge shaped like an NES game inside is just a wonderful detail, and the NES Classic didn't even let you open the lid...The Pi3 version of the case did let you open the lid, and had the proper buttons, but it didn't have a tray for SSD cartridge, nor did it have all of the right materials and details, as the black plastic near where you put the controller was just a sticker on the Pi3, this one is a hard black plastic more like the NES.It's also a little bigger than the Pi3 version, I'm assuming that it is to make room for the SSD cartridge, but this size feels even better in the hand, being bigger makes it seem more like a true videogame console, even if it's only a little bit, it's really noticeable when holding int in the hand or just seeing it next to a big TV.I love that the updated version of the Pi4 case has the 2 matching USB's in front instead of adding a 3.0 port, this seemed unnecessary and made it look ugly to be honest, so this update fixes that too! With all this, I think I'm left without anything more to desire, this has it all. I can't wait for SNES, SFC, Master System, Genesis and PS1 cases to be done like this!! Also, can we get a Famicom case with this quality too?And controllers with the 2 button layout? That would just about make everything fully perfect!!

closer faithful look to the Original NES than the Classic NES (though not without its own problems)
[TL;DR at bottom]First off, I like how this case matches the NES from the front, side, bottom, & almost the back (though that is to be suspected due to the ports of the raspberry pi 4). Compare to the NES classic which only the front and top matched the OG NES. Size wise, its about 20% bigger than the NES classic (the NESpi4 base is as big as the top of the NES Classic, and almost as big as NES cartage). I have provided pictures to show the size difference with Classic edition on the left, NESpi4 in the middle, and the Original NES on the right. with them stack on top of each other (in that same order) to show the size difference from a top view. As for the SSD cartage it about 3/4 if not smaller than the actual NES cartage. The only down part (visually) is the small amount of excess plastic in the top vent area. It didn't effect the air flow completely, just something that I have notice)Now the functionality, while everything works as intended. I did ran into some problems. While I don't have any problem with the sound from the fan. Its audible but its not that loud. The only thing I did differently is that I have some left over thermal paste so i used that over the included thermal pad, due to me wanting to overclock my pi. As for overclocking.my Pi was stable at 2000mhz cpu & 700 mhz gpu inside this case (anything over that and it would not boot the rainbow screen). The only draw back was i have to power it on and then pull the plug then plug it back in to get it not to hang after the rainbow screen went away. After that it played just fine. Having it run for 2 hours with the lid on, at that clock speed and my temp was around 65 C. Higher than I wanted to be, but not bad.As for the SSD slot. I didn't notice any difference in load time, but I did notice however when it comes to custom plash screen videos. With the SSD installed. It will not play .Mov files correctly, but fine with .Mp4. Along with that (it did it once every time I do this) is when i get it to display after power cycling it. It would ether not play the splash video at all or boot normal, then wait till video is over, then continue with the rest of the booting instead just play the video over it to have the user something to watch while they wait. Now the big one of them all. Once I have everything plugged in and working. I notice that my pi now is having trouble getting on the net. Apparently this is an issue that most people are having when having the sata drive usb plugged into the pi. Where it won't connect or see the Wi-Fi. Lucky for me the ethernet port on the back worked so I used that for finishing anything I need setting it up that requires the net.TL;DR:Good:-Design-SATA drive worked-Allowed the pi to be overclocked without overheatingBad:-Picky on video file with SSD installed-Have to power cycle to display anything If the pi is overclocked.-Lose Wifi & Bluetooth if Usb SATA drive is plugged in.

Nostalgia in a small gray box
Overall, this is a slick and fun Pi4 case. Love the design and cartridge. I have a mind to spray paint it gold and change the cartridge's sticker to something more familiar, but these are trying times.Functionally:I have not tested the SSD capabilities, but the safe shut off script works great for me. The noise is negligible, and AC adapter seems to be solid. I have had it running for a few hours at a time and no heating issues.Note - and this is more for the PI4, but you will need a micro HDMI adapter. I bought a 2-pack Cable Matters set for $10 USD that work well.
