2021 Lippincott Pocket Drug Guide for Nurses

Small but mighty
Get this. I’m in nursing school and use it as a reference when doing homework, care plans, and clinicals. Much better than lugging around my thick book. The writing is small but the book is tiny so it’s to be expected. If needed just get a little card sized magnifier from the dollar store. Other than that it works for me. And it even has some drugs my big bill doesn’t have. It has all the needed info like dosaging, adverse effects, patient teaching, and nursing considerations. My professor looked at it and approved.

Pocket sized is right
Needed a drug book to carry around clinicals and this fit the bill. It is the same size as an index card (index card on top of book in photo for reference) with about a 0.75” of depth. I took some sample photos of the print for comparison. I love that the print is small because as you can see I also write roughly the same size. I have 19/20 vision without any difficulty reading the print. I wouldn’t suggest this for those who have difficulty reading the newspaper (are those still even around?) because the print is smaller than that. Another thing I’m enjoying is the appendix section of this book - handy!

The size is small as an iPhone 12
The media could not be loaded. This book came in great condition and is small as an iPhone 12 a bit smaller I should say with lots of information. But if you wear reading glasses for fine print you’re going to need it the prints are so so small which I think is expected for the size and the amount of information that’s packed into it. I recommend getting it you’re going to need for both clinical as a nursing student and work

Magnifying glass needed to use this book
This book gives NEW meaning to pocket book....the actual size is 3 INCHS by 5 INCHS....with over 4200 drugs listed....you can bet the writing is VERY small. I bought this for my 85 year old mother to use....Her glasses just didn't have enough power to read it...Other then the S-I-Z-E., the book is informative and useful.

super helpful for major drugs
i liked that is has alot of information on the drugs included and i like the size of the book. It is small enough to fit in my pocket and the words are large enough to still read clearly. It does not include ALL drugs but most of the major ones that are commonly used.

Kicking butt at clinical rotations
This little medication reference guide is a time and lifesaver. All of the medications included list the indications, adverse effects, side effects, Med class, precautions/contraindications anddd my favorite part is the safe administration dosing for adults and children. Fits in my scrub pockets, not bulky. In my opinion, pretty straightforward, highlights key info unlike the Kaplan drug guide and the ginormous Davis’s drug guide which provides wayyyyy too much info that I do not need at this time. Highly recommend!

Print is Way Too Small!
I bought this little book for my niece who is embarking on a career as a medical transcriptionist and quality assurance editor. The book does contain many, many drugs and their definitions, but I have 20/20 eyesight in one eye and 20/15 in the other, and even I found this dictionary difficult to read. I know physician and nursing residents might like to carry it around in their pocket, and they could certainly do that, but honestly, I think it would be better to have made it a little bigger. It's so small, they're going to have to carry around a magnifying glass as well in order to read much at all.My niece will keep this dictionary and use it, for the time being, but she's planning on buying one that's easier to read. When you're typing a medical report and a patient's health is at risk, you don't want to make any mistakes. If carrying a pharmaceutical dictionary around in your pocket is your goal and you have perfect eyesight, this might do. If you're like my niece and just want a dictionary you can keep at your desk, then best look for something bigger. Save your eyesight.

Small but mighty
I love this book. Some say it’s too small to read, but I haven’t had an issue. I like it better than my bigger Davis’ drug book. Only thing I didn’t like was that it doesn’t include the onset, peak, and duration info that you find in other books. Otherwise this is perfect for researching drugs.

Dont Waste Your Money
Total waste of a purchase no use to man or beast - The book and text are far too small to even be called a reference book

Perfect
Perfect for nursing placements and fits into my scrub uniform pockets with more than enough space for other stuff.

Worth it but limited
This book is excellent for clinical rotations, but it is definitely limited.Pros:-Small book fits into every pocket of my scrubs and isn't bulky-Handy for quick references-Clear general overview of stating information about medication drugs class, indication, purpose, dosages, effects, and interactions-Sufficient collection of medicationsCons:-Small writing can be challenging to read for some-Many commonly used drugs, especially psychotropic medications, are excluded from this book-Only general information is given, and action of medications as well as nursing considerations and interventions are not included in this book
