OTTERBOX COMMUTER SERIES Case for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 - Retail Packaging - White/Gunmetal

Just exactly what I wanted. I don't usually drop my phone that often, but ever since I got the Note 3, I have had a harder time keeping a hold of it. So, more drops. My last case had some serious damage, though no damage to the phone. I like this because it is slim and smooth, but has a bit of grip on the edges, too. The front is well protected due to the lip that goes all the way around. The port covers flip back down on their own when not in use for protection during those dreaded toilet drops....I had a couple. I believe this would give enough protection from water for everything except absolute submersion for more than a few seconds....maybe even beyond that, too.I do find that it is a pain to plug in due to the previously mentioned port covers, and I considered cutting them off, at least the one over the charging port. But I don't think I will as I prefer to be a little inconvenienced once a day and retain the protection. It also gives me the "kickstand" capabilities I believe no phone should be without.

EDITED JULY 12, 2016.⚠WARNING⚠ This case has a rubber "hinged" door over the charging port. I strongly recommend cutting it loose (just snip it free at the hinge line using scissors or a razor blade). You can still insert the "plug" to keep dust, crumbs, etc. from getting into the port (it's just a loose piece now when you remove it).Leaving the door in place, as purchased, causes the door to press against the end of your charger cord, bending the metal end down away from the rubber in just a couple days. I had to buy four cords last month before I realized the cause of the problem and how to "cure" it. So far I'm on day ten of my current cord.Also, I opted to leave out the enclosed screen protector and have found that the clear vinyl front of the case itself is sufficient.====================Great style, perfect fit. Dust covers that the original phone never had over a few of the ports. It was easy to put on and the raised edge around the screen has already saved phone from damage. The only negative was really a matter of preference. The enclosed screen protector is a blue vinyl privacy type. my preference for a screen protector is gorilla glass or something similar.

First off, let me bash these dumb people for dumb reasons to rate this product 1 star.The case is not slippery. Dumb people are just clumsy and don't know how to hold a phone in their hand. Notice how I used the word "their" and not "there/they're". Are you going to trust a review based on the dimwitted person behind it that can't even use correct adjectives? Think about that first!Secondly, unless you have freaky tiny hands you might find this case bulky. I have man hands so I don't have a problem with the size of the case. Also it doesn't take a rocket scientist to put a rubber housing unto the phone followed by the hard shell case. If that was a horrible experience for you that you had to rate it 1 star and blab about it, then life must render you catatonic. I don't know how you make it through life.In case you didn't know, the case comes with a 1 year warranty. Use it or lose it. It's like me wishing you a happy 29th birthday on your 31st birthday. It happened already. Get over it.Now the nitty gritty. There is some merit to the sides of the rubber housing. After a while. Roughly a year or sooner depending on usage, the sides around the corners do get saggy or lose their stiffness.That's why I rated it 3 stars. It doesn't seem worthy of that price tag. However I have dropped this phone numerous times and it protected the phone. So pick your poison. I have moved on to Tech 21. Offers protection and the lip of the case doesn't lose its stiffness. Very rigid. Also, it is half the price of this case. Good luck.

Case is great, it's very good protection, comfortable in the hand, fits nicely in the pocket. The ridge around the edges really protect the glass. This case has a professional look and is not too loud for professional use. It arrived on time and the packaging was perfect. This case is very protective and the lip around the case protects the screen so I rarely worry about it cracking, just don't drop it on rocks! I wish they made it for an extended battery like a 6400 mAh battery, but that's OK.(The rest of this will be about how Amazon is NOT using any solar or wind or any other green, low carbon technology to power it's data center, which powers a TON of the internet.)Amazons AWS service which is Amazon Web services powers a large portion of the Internet, including MAJOR things like Netflix, Reddit, Pintrest and most likely a lot more.This cause a lot of unnecessary pollution and now it's all I can think about when I use those and Amazon's website. It's 2014 and the price of solar is REALLY REALLY low. I had a much cheaper version of this Samsung Note 3 case that kept coming off at the most inconvenient times. I upgraded to this OtterBox Commuter case and have not been disappointed. It is sturdy without being bulky and stays on all the time! My husband has the heavy duty OtterBox case and loves it for his purposes but it was too bulky for me. This Otterbox Commuter case protects my Galaxy Note 3 nicely and is attractive as well.The only down side to it is the cover flap to the charging port. While being very functional, it is a bit of a problem to keep open while you are plugging in the charger. The earphone port cover isn't as problematic. Even so, it is nice to have the charger port and earphone port covered all the time to keep the dirt out.I would recommend this OtterBox Commuter Case to anyone and I believe it comes in a variety of colors.

Prior to purchasing this OtterBox I had used the Samsung brand "flip cover" for my Note 3. I had gone through two in 18 months, mostly because dirt was easily embedded in the cover. It also did little to protect the edges of the Note 3, which had become scratched. When I received a replacement Note 3 due to a defect I decided to try the OtterBox, which a friend recommended. Best decision I've made in a while. The material used does not collect dirt like the flip cover, and it's easily wiped-off if something is spilled. It's also light and does not add much weight to the phone, but has a grippable surface, saving me from several potential drops. The included screen cover works great. I've had it about three months now and am 100% happy with my purchase.
