I love to compare books with their movie versions. I had seen the movie versions of several of these plays and it was so interesting to read the actual plays. The Little Foxes is one of my favorite movies and I was pleased to find there is actually a prequel to that story, Another Part of the Forest. Watch on the Rhine is such a sad and moving story about the courage of ordinary people in times of crisis. Hellman was a great playwright. It’s no wonder Hollywood loved her. Hollywood needs to start investigating great plays to make into movies. I am so sick of superhero movies and terrible remakes of things. If they can’t come up with good scripts, they should start going back and making movie versions of great plays. I wish I could have seen these plays on Broadway!

The product was in excellent condition as stated and just as comprehensive as described. A perfect addition to the script library, this collection has several harder to find Hellman plays. Good reading size text for these classic plays!A must have for theatre efficianados!

Reading plays may not be for everyone. But Lillian's works are well worth trying. I think anyone would enjoy them.

Lillian Hellman was a fascinating figure among the New York intelligentsia of the 30s,40s and 50s - a very exciting time to be in with the in-crowd. I wondered what all the fuss was about, since it was her plays that originally made her name. I bought the book for my daughter, who is involved in amdram at Cambridge University as a possible source of material. She is very impressed.As ever, Amazon makes this sort of experiment so affordable.
