Accurate ATD Reel - ATD-12T Silver

I bought this same reel in the left hand retrieve version. I have tried many offshore reels from most of the well known makers and I have to say, I have no doubt Accurate is at the top. I also desire a left hand wind reel and Accurate is the ONLY manufacturer that makes most all their models available in left hand retrieve. The ATD series is their largest reels and go all the way up to size 130. Even that monster can be bought in a left hand retrieve version. The ATD reels use two anti-reverse dogs instead of just an AR bearing. This method of anti-reverse generally does make some noise during retrieve but I was shocked at how little noise the ATD-50 makes during retrieve. Not completely silent but the clicking sound from the anti-reverse is quiter than most similar types. These reels are built tough and built to last a lifetime. All Accurate reels except their budget Fury series have a set of drag washers on both sides of the spool. This does two major things. First it allows a lot more drag pressure to be applied with a lot less wear on the drag system and since even pressure is applied from both sides of the spool the drag is smooth, predictable and stays cooler. Any time I'm in the market for an offshore lever drag reel I will be getting another Accurate, The ATD-50 was my third Accurate reel to purchase and they all perform perfectly. The smaller series reels do use an anti-reverse bearing and retrieve on them is very silent. They also have a true instant anti-reverse. Due to the two dog anti-reverse system used on the ATD reels the anti-reverse isn't "instant" but more so than most if not all reels that use this system for anti-reverse. These reels are built like a tank and the fit and finish on all of mine are second to none. I would recommend Accurate over all other brands and I will be buying more as my budget allows.

1 have 2 accurate atd30 and they have the guts to handle 200 lb yellowfin and keep on ticking. Will hold up to braid with no sweat and 28 lbs of drag all day long will do no damage to them ( 232 yellowfin a personal best on atd 30)With accurate never a worry with atd
