good for the price
Good overall quality, surface is sufficiently flat, and overall build quality is what i expected. I'm not completely pleased with the buttons for the parallel ruler as their engaged position seems like something i could bump, and when not locked it can be removed too easily/fall off for my tastes, but overall for the price i am happy that initial build quality i got my money's worth. it remains to be seen how durable it is, and i haven't checked the accuracy of the included rulers and angles, but I didn't buy it for that. i bought it to be a flat enough surface for the type of drawing i prefer and to maybe do some small scale drafting on. It's not big enough for full scale drafting paper, but for something portable, handling a full print would be obnoxiously large. overall the connection between the parallel bar and the board, and the buttons keeps it from being 5 stars, but still worth the money

Ok
Basically a good unit, but right side won't lock. I'd give it more stars except for this.

Easy setup
Used for stage set design. Excellent for simple drafting jobs. Compact and easy storage.

Horrible product
The parallel ruler doesn't slide smoothly...when the ruler is slide...the 2 legs pop off. Spend more money and get a normal drafting parallel bar that use wire

Paper Size
I used to have a similar Steadler drawing board but I lent it to my son about 25 years ago and haven't seen it since. (Children, gotta love em)I am doing some work now that requires drawings so I went to purchase another one. The Steadler is now $160 to $200 which is overpriced for a piece of die cast plastic so I looked into alternatives. The unit I chose was equivalent to the Steadler in purpose but only $47. I don't know about you but I prefer $47 to $160 or more. In any event, the unit I received is not as heavy weight as the Steadler but is more than sufficient to do the job. When locked in, the arm is parallel within reason to the pads edge. The arm does have a tendency to stick a little when run up and down the track but a quick rub with some candle wax for lubricant improved it to the point of being a non issue. The arm that swings and the triangular arm are so so but again, they can be used. One of the things I find a little strange is the fact that the paper size is A3 (metric 297mm x 420mm) and the scales shown are clearly metric but the scales are in inches on my unit.Regarding paper, if you live in the US or Canada A3 paper can be difficult to get since Imperial is still in effect for the most part. I suppose you could use 11 x 17 but the upper right corner grab will not work with it and you will have to resort to drafting tape to secure the corner. I was an idiot and didn't read the "A3" in the ad so I bought 12 x 18. Big mistake. It took me the better part of an hour to cut down 50 sheets to A3 size with a paper cutter I had access to. Scissors would have been far far longer. As a result, I would strongly suggest to the reader that you purchase some A3 from Amazon when you order one of these units. It will save you a fair amount of time in the end.All in all for small drawings not requiring pinpoint accuracy I would recommend this product.
