I liked the product, I liked the idea of sitting my iron down and it not burning my ironing board cover - BUT, I didn't think about my steam iron emitting steam when it is sitting down on this trivet. I don't want my steam iron letting out all that steam, not that it hurts the trivet, it doesn't. But it does cause me to fill up the iron a lot more often. This trivet is a great idea for irons that aren't using steam.

Is it ok to rest on smooth side while hot? When it is on nub side with steam on my iron makes a crazy noise and keeps spitting out steam. It doesn’t make that sound when resting down on smooth side. Is it ok to do that or will I ruin my iron? I love the protection to my ironing board cover and ease of resting the iron down especially when teaching young people to iron.
