Kidde i12010SCO Alarm
Installation: Wow! Talk about simple installation and reliability. I could have, but I did not even have to change the power cables from my old Kidde models. I had to change the mounting, but it was only 2 screws and a twist. Otherwise, the 3 Kidde i12010SCO alarms, which I received from OJ in only 2 standard days, were all plug-and-play.Reliability: So far, I seem to have had 1 battery low alert during the installation process. However, I put that alarm in another spot, and the alert seems to have been a little glitch. This alarm is working properly so far. And the other 2 will probably last for the 10 years "worry free" lithium battery life.Interconnectivity: Supposedly, these alarms are interconnected, meaning when 1 goes off, the rest are activated. So far, I did not experience this process, maybe because of how my electricity is wired. I am not really a fan of this technology because I feel that I will not know the initial source of the alarm activation. Also, in case there is a false alarm, it might ring in my neighbor's apartment, which has the same alarm model. I may be wrong about this feature because I did not experience it yet...Overview: Overall, the alarms are very loud and clearly state the type of incident (ex. Fire! or Carbon Monoxide!). These are exactly like my old Kidde alarms, which lasted for almost 9 years.Verdict: Excellent buy!

No annoying batter chirp, easy to install.
I've only had these for a few days, but I really like the design. They were also easy to install. I am the least handy person around (more into computers), so when I say easy to install, I mean it. I was coming from 2006 FireX smoke detectors (sue me, I didn't know I needed to replace them every 5+ years or so), so I needed to but the adapter, which Amazon also sells. Installation was as easy as this:1. Twist off the old detector and remove it from the wiring (left power on, but you should turn it off to be completely safe).2. Remove the old plate.3. Install the new plate4. Connect the adaptor to the existing wiring.5. Attach the adapter to the new detector (you will need a few inches of space in the wiring recess).6. Push the detector into the recess, twist and turn.At this point, the internal battery will activate and ask you to test the alarm. Do that, it goes through its boot process, and now I shouldn't have to worry about this damn thing until 2030.

They Talk!
This will be the best smoke alarms I've ever installed, and they detect CO too.Like any smoke alarm, they sound a loud alarm when they detect smoke, or carbon monoxide. However, they also "speak". In the case of smoke, they say, "Fire". If they detect carbon monoxide, they say, "Carbon monoxide." And finally, if the battery is low, they say, "Low battery." I love living in the 21st century!I replaced all 10 FireEx smoke alarms in my home. Yes, you have to remove all the old quick-connect harnesses, and you need to remove all the old mounting plates. Even then, I replaced all of my in about an hour. That includes clean-up time.To replace your existing alarms:1. Disconnect power to all your existing smoke alarms. If you home is wired properly, they should be on the same circuit. If not, you will need to verify the power is off to all of your smoke alarms before continuing.2. Remove all of your existing smoke alarms. Since all of mine were FireEx brand, I had to also remove the existing mounting plates and quick-connect harnesses. They are not compatible with this smoke alarm.3. Install your new smoke alarms, replacement quick connect harnesses and mounting plates. If your house has an inter-tie, you will connect the red wire to the red. White to white. Black to black. make sure the wire nuts are all tight and the wires are connected snugly. If you do not have an inter-tie, then leave the red wire from the quick-connect harness capped. (It comes capped from the factory.)4. Connect the plug on the quick connect harness to the smoke alarm. Place the alarm on the mounting plate and rotate clockwise until snug. if you do it properly, you will hear a "Beep", followed by a voice saying, "Push test button." If you have more than one smoke alarm to replace, I recommend installing all of them before pushing the test button.5. Once all of the alarms are installed, Reconnect A/C power. The LED on ALL of the smoke alarms should be glowing green. If not, something is wrong, and you will need to troubleshoot the issue6. Tell your loved ones, "You may want to leave the house for a minute", and proceed to test smoke alarms. Press and hold the button in the middle until it beeps once, then release the button and step back. In about three seconds the testing process will begin. Because of the inter-tie, all of the alarms in your house should follow the same testing sequence along with the one you are testing. I recommend walking from room to room during the process and verifying that they are all following the test process. This helps you verify that you wired them all correctly.

no nonsense wired smoke & carbon monoxide detectro
Note: you need to connect the device to the base and turn it to activate internal 10 year battery. We liked this because we were able to connect this to our current wired system and with a simple base replacement, upgrade two of our smoke detectors that should have also had CO Monoxide detectors as well (i.e., near kitchen and by laundry room with gas dryer). Our biggest complaint about our old wired smoke detectors is that the backup battery would go bad at the worst of times and beep at night. This unit should resolve that issue and address both types of detectors.

Supports the intended use
This product is easy to install and is marked to last 10 years. What is a little frustrating is that it is ultra sensitive to smoke - I like to make bacon or sausage on weekends or if I make grilled burgers inside the house it is prone to set off the alarm on the floor the kitchen is in. I've had to actually cover some of the sensors to "desensitize" the unit to a degree. My last unit was not this sensitive and I'm sure I will get chastised for covering some of the vents but it beats setting off the sensor and alarms when one is cooking. I have other alarms in the house and they are all connected through the wiring so when one goes off they all go off. In the case of a fire I will hear for I have only had to desensitize the main floor unit.

Easy to install
Works. Easy to install thankfully. Took a while to receive it as the old one was beeping for two weeks.

Good value. Great safety.
Replaced my old KIDDE hard wired units very easily. Same base plate and electrical connector. Plug and play.Nice that these have 10 year batteries inside. My biggest complaint with the old ones is that they wouldn’t work during a power outage and would also beep and talk when the power came back on. Very annoying at 3am.
