“the last romantic couple.”
Having " LOST" the previous 2009 Criterion edition I was anxious for this " re-release".Though color grading appears similar to the previous release , it is actually an improved ( if only marginally) newer 2k film restoration. The biggest differences are the party scene with director Sam Fuller and the " day for night " beach sequence with Anna and Jean Paul .Sam Fuller is now shown " naturally " ( no longer green tinted) , and the beach scene/ moment appears to be at night ( which somehow makes more sense).Overall the film grain looks better resolved and the occasional " shimmering " on the old release ( at least on my TV ) seems to have been eliminated. All the extras from the 2009 edition have been ported over ( including the booklet.a rapidly disappearing feature on Criterion releases).Thrilled to have it back in my collection !!!

A Well-Made Film
I’m reviewing the film based on having watched it on the Criterion Channel, along with the special features. That’s why this review appears before it’s officially re-released. I really enjoyed the movie. Great performances from the two leads, and the use of color is just terrific. The story and plot are a bit confusing because Godard uses a lot of Jump cuts, voice over, and strange visuals to tell the story. It’s worth the time invested. This will go down as one of Godard’s best.

One Crazy Film from Godard
In art and plot, there's a crazy freedom to this Jean-Luc Godard film that makes it enormously entertaining. Anna Karina is charming and funny, although her character has a dangerous element too. Jean-Paul Belmondo is marvelous right to the nutsy end. Godard can be an acquired taste, but this (along with works like Breathless, Band of Outsiders, Vivre Sa Vie) is quite accessible unless you need everything in a film to make perfect sense and be spelled out for you.I have the Criterion blu-ray, and I recommend it for its video quality (nice colors, which are important) & good extras, including a substantial booklet.

Excepcional.
Espléndida película en calidad hd, viene con más de una hora de extras incluyendo un documental acerca de la vida de Jean-Luc Godard y una entrevista con la actriz Ana Karina. De igual manera incluye una pequeña revista con información del filme.
