Death on the Nile
I always loved Agatha Christie, and the Death on the Nile was a really good movie that kept you guessing who the killer was.

Excellent Hercule Poirot!
Excellent adaption of Agatha Christie's Poirot novel Death on the Nile. Suchet is excellent as Poirot vacationing in Egypt. Emily Blunt as beautiful and rich Linnet Ridgeway wants Poirot to investigate a former friend who is stalking her. Poirot turns it down and warns the stalker she is getting into deep trouble. The friend feels that Blunt has stolen her boyfriend. Everyone goes on a Nile Cruise and the Egyptian background scenes are excellent. James Fox plays Poirot's friend who investigates after Blunt is murdered. Everyone is a suspect and there is an all star cast. David Soul plays an American investment broker of Blunts who has a lot to hide. Pearls are stolen and there are 2 more murders. The weather is very hot and it is astounding that British cast wear full suits and vests in the hot Egyptian climate. Peter Ustinov and David Niven also have an excellent adaption of this version and is highly recommended. Alastair Mackenzie (the Laird) plays a communist who has a hidden past. Great cast and excellent story.

Probably the best adaptation for screen of Agatha Christie's Death on the Nile
"Death on the Nile" with David Suchet is probably the best screen adaptation of Agatha Christie's novel. The film's script is much tighter than in the other version with Peter Ustinov. David Suchet is perfect as Poirot, and although Peter Ustinov is a wonderful actor, one might get a feeling that he is just playing himself from another movie. Even though Peter Ustinov is surrounded by movie legends, the other actors in the film with David Suchet are great.

Excellent portrayal of this mystery, with particularly good casting!
David Suchet is perfectly cast as famous detective Hercule Poirot, seen here journey up the Nile River in Egypt during the mid-1930's with your typical collection of weathy/decadent Europeans and Americans, one (or more) of whom is a murderer. Emily Blunt is excellent as beautiful blonde rich girl Linnet Ridgeway, who appears to get anything & everything she wants, making her a number of enemies/suspects after her lifeless body is discovered. As I hadn't read the book, I had no idea whodunnit, and as is often the case, Hercule Poirot's investigation took me by complete surprise. Enjoyable all around!

Impossible to watch in UK or Europe
There was no clear information about the possibility of viewing the dvd. Region 1 only. I was really looking forward to watching it. Now I am very disappointed.

Closest to the book
I've seen Branagh's latest attempt (dreadful, so heavily rewritten that very little of it makes any sense), and Ustinov's. This is the closest to the book. Brilliant.

Worst version of the famous book.
Picture quality is bad, don't waste your money. The original version is superb, go for that one with Peter Ustinov.
