Loveliness
Rutherford’s heart was on fire for Christ. He was overcome by The Father, The Son, and His Spirit. Powerful. Encouraging.

Inaccurate edition
Though this book does contain selections from the edifying letters of Samuel Rutherford, they are in little snippets, out of context. The selections are also heavily edited, sometimes erroneously. Here's one example:Original: "... it will not fall to you to get two portions, and to rejoice twice, and to be happy twice, and to have an upper heaven, and an under heaven too." Rutherford here is telling us not to set our minds on earthly things. This book: "It will not fail you to get two portions, and to laugh twice, and to be happy twice, and to have an upper heaven, and an under heaven too." This is the exact opposite of what Rutherford stated!Because of these editing flaws, I cannot recommend this book. Get Rutherford's unabridged letters instead: https://www.amazon.com/Letters-Samuel-Rutherford-biographical-correspondents/dp/1986090647. The complete letters can also be downloaded for free from Google Books.
