Simple to use item
I have not had to use these yet and hope not to, but incase I do they should work just fine.

Aluminum, but bulky and heavy.
These aluminum sand ladders/ditch bridges are bulky, and heavy dead weights to carry around unless you are going off-road and need a solid sand ladder or bridge for ditches or tree logs/stumps. Plastic grate (flat, window screen design) sand ladders/bridges are a lot lighter and strong enough for most SUV's. For daily use, I keep in my SUV a pair of smaller steel frame ladders for snow, ice, sand, and ditches and stumps. They are hard to find nowadays, as most now on the market are flimsy plastic. Most of the plastic ones are only good for sand and mud, and are easily broken by heavy trucks or frequent use. Don't waste your money on the flat plastic ones sold in the supermarket. Instead of grabbing ice, snow, and frozen roads, they will go flying away. You may want to cut one of these ladders in half, giving you two shorter pieces to get you over a rock or tree stump. There are also folding steel ladders available that can do the same thing without cutting up a long sand ladder. Drive slowly over sand ladders, to give your tires a chance to get a good grip on the sand ladders and keep them from getting pushed away without moving your vehicle.

Heavy duty, strong.
These are thick sheets of aluminum. You wedge them in front of your tires and drive your buried truck out of the sand. They work.

Selling to the Army
Great product, kinda pricy but, is probably worth it. If I was stuck in the desert, I would want a pair.

Five Stars
As far as sand ladders Aluminum is much better material for the job than cardboard, or indigenous peoples.

These appear to be identical to what I got thru ...
These appear to be identical to what I got thru Land Rover some years ago. I cut one pair in half and carriy those and two pair full length. Traversing deserts in Australia for a year I used the short ones multiple times a day, the full length ones only occasionally. Yeah, they get tweeked but they can be bent back to the original. See http://desertdrivel.com/Travels/The_Truck/Pages/Truck_Features.html#8 for pic of them mounted.
