A very good read
Once it gets going it is hard to put down. Would recommend this to anyone who is interested in reading or supernatural stuff. Hard to put down at times.

Lots of extra content, print is too small
Great features such as history, timeilines and background. Print is a little smaller than I would like

Lots of analysis...
This edition is probably very good for students but for me it's really verbose. The story, author and culture behind the story are all analyzed about to death. I'm actually just getting to the story and skipped some of the intro analysis.

Oxford better edition of 1818 text
The Oxford World's Classics edition of Frankenstein (1818 text) I found to be a better "package" than the Penguin Classics edition. The Penguin has an excellent introduction, but the other supplementary material is pointless, irrelevant filler. The Oxford edition is also less expensive.

MINDBLOWING!
In truth I dithered a lot between a 4 and a 5 star. The reason being that the novel is unequal in its merits. Too many pages and words are devoted to describing Frankenstein's feelings. This part I found tedious. However, where the "being" itself is the focus of the novel, the narrative is so tremendously poignant, and powerful, as well as original and stupendous in the ideas conveyed there, that it is absolutely top-class world litterature. Reading the Introduction to this edition - which I thoroughly recommend - I discovered the reason of the disparity mentioned above. Mary Shelley originally wrote Frankenstein as a short story. Publishers however, asked her to develop the short story into an much lengthier novel. Therefore, the lengthy descriptions of Frankenstein's feelings at the beginning of the book.Is the book worth reading? Absolutely , YES!!!. A mind-blowing masterpiece, despite its verbose first part. Furthermore, I particularly recommed this edition, as the Introduction - which I turned to after reading the novel (alhtough I was quite familiar with the plot) - sheds a lot of light into the story itself, as well as a lot of very interesting background and socially relevant information. A book to read, keep and treasure.(A note to the editors of the reviews. You keep reporting me as a UK resident. I am Greek, and the books I order are sent to Athens, Greece). Although I pay for my purchases using my Lloyds bank card, this does not make me a UK resident. I belong to that race of people who for various reasons are practically bilingual. Thank you, anyway)

For those who are interested as myself in the Gothic style of writing, this book is not disappointing. A really good read.
