Otterbox 77-31576 Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini Defender Series Case - Black

If you ever drop your phone, this case is likely to pay for itself after the first drop. I recently dropped my phone on a concrete floor, and it surely would have damaged my phone if it weren't in a case. However, the Defender case lived up to its name. No damage to the phone or the case itself. Good stuff.Update (9/13/2016) - After owning for more than two years, I'm still happy with the product. It has saved me from a cracked screen (or worse) on multiple occasions, making it well worth the money.Still, if you're looking at this style of case for another phone, know that you'll probably want replacement parts at some point, and there are none available. Eventually, the screen protector will get damaged from regular use. It's better that the protector take the damage than your phone's screen, but after a while, it becomes quite noticeable. In hindsight, I wish I had put one of those cheap "film" style protectors on the hard cover of the case from the beginning. Something that I could easily remove and replace when needed. Also, the case doesn't snap together as securely as it did initially, and this is of course a result of normal wear and tear. Still, it would be nice to be able to replace just the screen part of the case without having to spring for an entirely new case.

Durable case with screen protector. This won't protect your phone from complete destruction or being submerged in water, but provides good shock absorption if dropped. Two things I don't care for much about it is the screen is very difficult to see outside due to glare from the screen protector and you need to have the face completely shaded to see it and I find the case bulky which is what makes is so durable and shook absorbent. On the other hand it provides a good grip on the phone. If you or your kids have a tendency to drop your phone I would recommend it. It is a lot cheaper than a those awful insurance plans the phone companies try to sell you (you have to pay for the insurance plus at least $100 deductible) and it does protect your phone.

I can't even begin to explain how happy I am that I bought an Otterbox for my phone. I always thought they were unnecessary and bulky, but now I love it. I got a new Samsung Galaxy S4 mini for Christmas and was so worried about dropping it and having the screen crack. I dropped it once without this case on it and it fell flat on the ground and I was just dreading picking it up. Nothing happened, but I didn't want to take that chance anymore. I have dropped my phone several times since purchasing this Otterbox, and my phone has not been damaged at all. The only downfall to this case is that the "home" button isn't covered like the Otterboxes made for iPhones, so there's always some kind of dirt or lint getting underneath the case and appearing on my screen. I don't mind taking it apart to clean it, but it's kind of annoying.

I'm a middle aged, white-collar guy who carries phone clipped to his belt. For this reason, I thought the belt clipped Otterbox would be the way to utility and protection.. Wrong! While the case is big and sturdy, it also is heavy and feels clunky in the hand. The belt clip is a royal pain in the butt. Uncomfortable to wear (jabs into my side), I often find myself fiddling with two hands to lock the phone case into the clip. Several times I thought it was snapped in only to have phone fall to the floor. (Glad the otterbox well-protects against drops!) Finally, 30 dollars is way too much to pay for this case. Still shopping around for smaller but durable bumper case that will slip into my old leather, swivel case that slips onto my belt. Thanks.

I bought this cell cover 2yrs ago. Did a grest job protecting and preserving my cell. After about 1 1/2 yrs the screen protector was so scratched I could barely see the screen when used during the day outside. The rest of the case was still fine and i have no intention of getting new phone as it was still in very good condition. I would have give 5 star if I could have replaced screen protector without having to buy all new case.

The OtterBox Defender was great on my iPhone, so when I switched to Android I wanted the same protection. Some would argue the case makes your phone bigger, duh that is how it works to absorb impact and lessen the chance of damaging your phone. I recently had the phone take a 3 foot dive to hard wood floor and thanks to this case there was no damage.If you want to make your phone look pretty with a no protection thin shell case then this is not for you. If you are serious about protection, this is the case. I use it with the included holster clip and have not had any issues with it coming loose or breaking. It also includes a built in screen protector.

This case is doing well for me. It seems rugged enough for my 2 1/2 year old. It's bigger than I wanted (I have small hands), but it isn't too bulky. It fits in my back pocket sometimes, but it isn't comfortable there (which is where I prefer to keep it), so the clip works out well. The only issue I have with it is the plastic front makes it a little harder to use the screen. What I mean is that it isn't "suctioned" to the screen. So if I am texting, for example, it makes me skip letters.

this Otterbox has saved my phone more times then can count. I have even dropped my phone in the tub (quickly grabbed it) but then remove phone dry all up and my phone was saved by the design of this when without it; my phone would long be in landfill. its starting to show its age and edges of rubber are starting to come off in places but it still works great. great GREAT product. highly recommend if you care to keep your cell phone for a long period of time.

Great case, definitely get what you pay for. Makes the phone feel indestructable. Fit my S4 mini like a glove. You can definitely feel the difference in quality between an otter and knockoffs.

The built in screen protector comes with a couple of issues, one, you have to press a lot harder to register keystrokes, two, the edges don't always pick up actions making it difficult to drag down the notification bar, this is also a problem with the plastic bevel around the edges. Three, it attracts grease and dust.I have found putting a screen protector on the phone before I put it in the case makes the keys easier to press. Also placing a small amount of high quality tae across the home button stops all the dust and rubbish getting under the screen protector. If you work on sites or outdoors, you will need something else with this case to make it element proof as once it rains or a bit of mud gets near it, you spend ages trying to carve it out of the recesses In the case. Saying that, I have big thumbs, loved my Nokia and give my phones a tough time outside.It protects it from drops, or when a colleague throws it across a road.

If you are looking for a case to protect you S4 Mini then look no further. The mini if fully inclosed in the case and the screen protector is built in so you dont have to stick anything to your screen and then fight with air bubbles. I love this case. It was easy to put on and does not inhibit using the phone at all.

I had already tried an Ottebox Defender for my tablet, so decided to get one for my new phone. It's very useful and will save your Samsung from many dangers. Also, it's one of the few rugged covers available for dual sim phones.
