Quick Teview--- Great writing as Pearl Cleage is known to do
Quick Teview---Great writing as Pearl Cleage is known to do... merge social issues based on race and gender in fiction. A beautiful story highlighting Joyce's life. I would have loved to know more though. So many unanswered questions (e.g. spoilers: Was the movie festival a success to the point The Circus was funded properly eventually not needing the State's funding approval; I would have loved to have seen growth with characters Tomika and her friend. More Nate, less Junior. The stories focusing predominantly on Junior really was a distraction--not just to Pat's love life.) As a reader and fan, loved the work dearly... would love more. ;)

I don't have a red dress yet
This was an easy predictable read. The characters all somewhat I expected they would. No surprises her Dr. However it was good to see characters being genuinely helpful and tapping into a higher consciousness. Maybe this book helps you to believe in love one more time.

A Good Summer Read...
I thought this book was very well written with a cast of interesting characters, witty on-liners, and cleaver dialog. Cleage's writing style is truly enlightening and inspiring - she focuses on "life issues" like self-love/acceptance, courage/inner strength, and self reliance - delivering messages through the scenarios and characters in Idlewild. Although I would have liked her to have deeper defined the concept of the "free woman" and the shared more background of some of the supporting cast, like the Lattimores, Sister, and the twins...but perhaps that's for another book. Overall, it was a great summer read with a happy ending. I enjoyed it and look forward to her next release.

Intriguing!!
An enjoyable easy read, bringing you into the relaxation and comfort of possibilities. The author keeps you wanting more and unable to put it down. I thoroughly enjoyed both books of the Idlewild set. I will be following Pearl Cleague. She is definitely a gifted writer.

I Wish I Had A Red Dress
I love this book. I've read it several times, its great to see a Sister invest in the young girls. Wanting to see thereLives change for the better. Trying to give them some life skills and other ways of looking at life and what is out.To aspire for more. Great author -- have read many of her books. I read this book first then had to go buy the book about her sister Ava. I Wish I Had a Red Dress .Ava's story What Looks Like Crazy

I Wish I Had a Red Dress
I really enjoyed this book, it was thought provoking and stirred up a desire or need to do something more to contribute to the well being and encouragement of younger people, especially teens and tweens. I had previously read 'What Crazy Looks Like on an Ordinary Day' by Ms. Cleage and this was like a continuation/sequel to it. Really Good!
