DEADWATER FELL DVD

Phenomenal!
Excellent series beginning. I just wish Acorn would quit doling out single episodes per week, as with Murdoch Mysteries. As a paying subscriber, I would like to binge watch an entire series whenever I choose to, not just when Acorn allows it.

WHY?????
The stars are because i cannot stream this program! I am locked down like everyone else...I need to be distracted! Paid extra for ACORN....I want access to the programing on my terms! I sound like a spoiled brat BUT I need to save my sanity in the middle of this pandemic!

Great potential, but single episode dribble is frustrating
Good story line and some of my favorite British characters. But that single weekly series platform is for the birds, especially when everyone has to stay inside. This would be the perfect time to binge watch what appears to be a great series..

Pay to Wait for Already Released Series?
This was released in full on BBC months ago and all episode synopses are online. Thereโs no place for weekly episodes on pay channels, Acorn. Boo.

Doesn't work on any level whatsoever
This series is exactly like โBroadchurchโ insofar as it involves David Tennant and it is a tv series. Except that while โBroadchurchโ was quite effective, this is dreadful. It is not Tennantโs fault; he can play a psychopath to perfection [see โJessica Jonesโ]. And the smooth dissembler [see โSpies of Warsawโ]. Here, the script just calls for him to yell a lot, look angry a lot, and eventually get hauled off to jail, much to the relief of all.For four episodes, we kept asking โso who dunnit?โ. Because, obviously, it couldnโt be the obvious suspect, as that would be, well, too obvious. But no, it was exactly as it seemed. Which makes one realize in hindsight that this isnโt a tense psychological drama [โLiarโ], or a complex police procedural with stark scenery [โShetlandโ]. It wants to be a meaningful, socially-relevant mini-series about abuse.Nothing remotely wrong with that. โVeraโ shows almost every week the devastating impacts of broken families. But that is well written and this is not. Everyone is a cartoon character. Every single male is by turns violent, manipulative, abusive, or just a waste of space. Every woman has been driven to drink, or drugs, or an affair, by the afore-mentioned males.I still donโt know what on earth the point of the story was. Itโs impossible to tell if Tennant just wanted to kill everyone in sight, including himself, or to stage a murder and blame his wife. In the end I canโt be bothered to think about it any further, and nor should you.

Outstanding acting and drama
I love the location for the story. I did not know that David Tennant has Scottish ancestry. The storyline maintains the viewer's interest until the very end. Well worth the purchase!!

Holding your attention.
This series wasn't as interesting as his Tennant's previous series "Broadchurch" but series is watchable.
