Pages left out of book
My daughter loves the original of this book but she ripped the page while turning them, so I decided to order the board book. Turns out they completely cut out parts of the story. Her favorite pages where they say “slow downnn” and the part with Harold the helicopter is just completely gone. She knows the book very well and was so sad that it wasn’t the same.

Other books are better
We own all of the beginner "Dr. Seuss" type Thomas books. This is second from the worst (the worst being Green train, blue train). There really isn't much rhythm or rhyme to this one - at least not nearly as much as the other books. That's not a huge deal, but my ultimate goal is to get my child remembering the story, and building off of that memory into reading the words. It takes that much longer to memorize the story when it doesn't rhyme very well (although one might argue if they don't remember all the words it's easy to skip pages and make it a quick bedtime). The other beef I have with it is that there are parts that make zero sense. At one point, Bertie has to stop and unload all his passengers because of a toad in the road (one of the few rhymes). Really? There's a toad in the road so everyone has to get off the bus? Don't get me wrong, my kid believes in Santa and I am all for imagination and creativity, but sending all the passengers off the bus because of a toad in the road is too much for me. I have no desire to encourage more drama from my child! If you have a little one obsessed with Thomas, go ahead and get this. My son likes to read it sometimes, but only for novelty. Our favorite is "Fast train, slow train" which is wonderful, rhythmic and rhyming. Second favorite is "Trains, Cranes and Troublesome Trucks" and third favorite is "Go train Go!" All three of those are excellent.

Little Book for Little Hands
I love these little “Early and Bright” books. They have become my go-to book to purchase before we travel on an airplane – they are simple, colorful, durable, and lightweight. They fit nicely in our diaper bag and are the perfect size for my 2yo to flip through. The Thomas Series is especially fun if your little one recognizes the characters!

Catchy and Memorable
My youngest daughter, age 2.5, LOVES this book! We checked it out from the library several times and she would read it many times a day, so for Christmas we bought her a copy of her own. The rhymes are simple and the story entertaining. After this many repetitions, she can "read" the book on her own -- she is so excited to be able to read a book to us, since she knows all of the words on all of the pages. When she plays outside on the sidewalk, she often finds "a crack in the track," and will entertain herself by pretending to be the engines who can't move forward or back because of the crack in the track. The illustrations are lovely as well -- sometimes she studies the pictures in detail, enjoying the scenery. For a little one who enjoys rhymes and trains, this book is fantastic!

A hit with the twins
my twin 14 month olds love it. I'm not in love with the sometimes rhymy, sometimes not style of writing. But I defer to them on this one and they hand it to me over and over, so they must know something I don't. It doesn't condense as well as Stop, Train, Stop, but in order for it to be a board book it is condensed from the original, and it's done decently.

A must read for every Thomas fanatic!
If your child loves Thomas they will also love this book. I have already read it so many times I about have it memorized and can recite it when out and about.

Another good Thomas book!
This is a cute story about a crack in the train track that caused a big back-up of many train cars. The moral of the story is that a train is only as good as its' track, but it also provides an opportunity to talk about being patient, taking turns, and learning that sometimes things don't go as we planned......depending on the age of the child.
