Fuel Pump, Alternator Style For VW Aircooled, Compatible with Dune Buggy

I got this for my 1970 Beetle and quickly noticed that the carburetor needed adjusting. Once I finally got the new carburetor dialed in the best I could, I also noticed that when the car sat like going in to pay for gas or a can of pop or something, once I got back out, it was hard to start and sounded like it was flooded. After doing some research, I concluded that the newer pumps like these put out way more fuel pressure than the 2.5 lb needed. You'll need to get a regulator like a Holley 12-804. Once you do that you'll be fine.

Replaced old leaky pump made for a generator with this alternator model. A little tough to tighten the rear nut but all went well. Works great and no more leaks!

I just installed this and it's working OK. The pump shown in the image is for another EMPI pump, not the for the part number stated and not the one that I received. It puts out 3 psi with the provided gaskets as it's supposed to. The fuel line nipples are in a very awkward position due to what I assume is a QC issue in swaging on the cap. This makes the installation difficult.

Not as shown. Psi is 5-6 with rod I used on my EMPI as pictured producing 2.5 psi. Shimmed 1/4” and at 3.4-4 psi. I don’t want to grind my rod for this unproven pump. I may just add regulator and hook up electric pump I have.
