I got on a chat with skystream before purchasing this, and they assured me that I would be able to use this to stream moves from my network hard drive to my TV. I used to have KD-Links box but those only last about a month after the warranty expires. Well it turns out that you cannot do anything with this unless you connect it to the internet, and then you have to sign up for an email address and get an account with google. Now call me old fashioned if you will, but I have no interest with signing up with giggle, farcebook, tweeker or any of that other social media crap. So I find this thing as less useful than a breast on a boar hog!Addition: So I thought I would go ahead and get a google e-mail address but found out that I would need to purchase a cell phone in order to receive text messages to do so. I wish I could give this thing less than one star now!!

I bought this with the hopes of watching free material. It does, but limited.First, you do have to have google account. That shouldn't be problem for most people. Then there are preinstalled apps to stream live TV - pluto, red bull. Then there are paid apps. My mistake for assuming those would be free. I went into those apps and it tells to sign up to my cable provider. Excuse me, but the reason I bought this box, is because I don't have cable or I want o cut cable, so it makes no sense that I have to sign into my cable account in order to access Disney, ESPN...Of course, if you go online, you can find videos that will teach you how to add your own apps and then you can get the channels you wanted. But that involves downloader, VPN, etc. So if you know how to do all that, then this is great device - the image quality is spectacular!! If you don't know how to do all that, then you have to commit to learning all these in order to enjoy the box. There are numerous youtube videos that will teach you tho.

Not as fast as skystream 3 plus, skystream 3 plus is the best yet .

I’ve been using this for a couple of days, and there are some things that I really like about it, and some things that I’m not crazy about.The box has amazing picture quality, I’ll give it that. I’ve used a few set top boxes from other manufacturers, and the picture from this on my 4K TV is noticeably better. The menus are crisp and take full advantage of the available TV resolution, so it looks much sharper than the large, bubbly menu buttons on other boxes. Movies look great.The actual operation can be a bit intimidating. It’s spelled out in so many places to NEVER do a factory reset on it, so I’m a bit concerned that if something happens, I’ll never get it working properly afterwards. While not “officially” supported, this seems geared very much to users who wish to get their entertainment from less-than-legitimate sources, and a factory reset would likely remove much of the customization used to facilitate this.There is a learning curve involved in how to get the most out of this. I’ve installed a few apps on it, and it seems well up to the task, but I’ve barely scraped the surface of its capabilities. If you want to use all of its features, you’ll have to do some research. There is a Facebook group with a lot of information.The remote feels a bit cheap and is a little painful to use. Some of the buttons aren’t in the same spots as most other manufacturers place them, so muscle memory can make you hit the wrong button. I still press the “Home” button when I mean to press the “Back” button. There is also no Play/Pause button, so you’ll run into apps where this might be an issue.The remote also has a floating cursor that tracks the remote movement, like a Wii controller, but it’s not as cool as it sounds. Since there is no reference to where it’s pointing and it drifts over time, you’ll find yourself contorting your arm in odd directions while trying to use it. You can kind of recenter it by moving past the screen, but you’ll be in the same positions a few minutes later. A touchpad-based cursor would be much easier to use. Sometimes the cursor doesn’t show up and a red light flashes on the remote, but I’m not sure what it means. Rebooting the box seems to get it working again.From what I can tell, this could be the most capable pre-built cord-cutting solution that I’ve ever used, but you still have to learn how to set it up and use it. You might be able to build the same kind of setup yourself, but this is ready to go.

I have a couple of these. Not the newest version but they work great for what i needed it for, to stream movies and music as easily as i can on my phone. Since it's an android tv box i expected to be similar to my android phone and it is. The air mouse remote i got for it with the keyboard is great too. If you don't understand the basics of how to work an android like previous commenters then this is not for you. The device works as it should. Great picture, easy menu to navigate, i never had to contact customer support for any issues. I'm definitely interested in checking out the new version.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I don’t have cable or a bluray player and I have a TV in my office that is not a wifi/smart TV so basically I couldn’t watch anything on it. Not anymore!This connected very easily to my wifi, I was able to download several apps, modified what was on the home screen, and was watching something within 20 mins. Big win for me.Great gadget!
