I bought it at $13 and, if you can afford to, I'd say just buy it. It's not that much money and if you're not dirt poor, it's worth having. Then go get a different more expensive one.At the end of the day, it does exactly what it says it does and nothing more. I would have given it three stars, but honestly for this price I didn't really care if it was perfect or not and so I can't honestly give it a lower rating because it is completely functional and does exactly what you'd expect.I do take off one star because it isn't 'portable'. Or at least, not in the way I would want if you're a student and hoping to lug this around in your backpack, purse, or whatever. It does fold down, just not completely, and it's still ever bit of eleven inches of metal plates that just won't lay flat. I don't need to take it anywhere, and this doesn't really impact me at all, but I know I wouldn't want to put this in a backpack full of books, notepads, papers, and possibly an expensive electronic like a tablet or laptop. Something is going to get jostled and this thing will wreck something else for sure.Otherwise, in an ideal world, it would have separate arms for each page and would have a way to adjust to any angle between 0 and 90 degrees. If your book is a massive textbook, particularly a massive paperback textbook like the one I've pictured, this thing is mostly worthless until you're a couple hundred pages in. Once you have a decent number of pages on either side the clamp will hold it open just fine. Until then, it won't stay open, the bottom edge of the book is going to slide around and so it will always be at some weird angle and it really only is slightly better than just holding the massive book.That being said, it will stand up to the weight and its literally just some sheet metal and a couple hinges. Not a whole lot can fail, so long as you're not expecting it to do much.

My daughter and I are teaming up to make my wife's work areas more functional. This item has been on the top of her list for a while and she was quite thrilled with it.
