Effective foam filters to use in a 3 stage filter system. Helps maintain water quality and clarity. No Assembly required. Longevity is better than marketed. I'm able to reuse these foam sponge filters by rinsing them in tank water until all the crud is rinsed out (DO NOT rinse in tap water or all the beneficial bacteria will be killed) These sponges can also be cut down to fit smaller off brand filter systems, and at end of life span they are good for a quick tank cleaning to remove algae from glass,etc.

The Aquaclear aquarium water purifier system is the least expensive system I have found. I have a 30 gallon tank and use the AquaClear 50 filter system. Since I have less than a dozen 2-4 inch fishes the cartridges last easily for 3 months as shown by a water analysis. I am please with the system. I use the foam, ammonia, and charcoal layers.
