WOW!
I have a decent sized library of books on the trade and 10 years making house payments with an anvil and hammer. This is the finest book of its type and subject matter I have seen. The book is well laid out, easy to use. and GREAT step by. step information and Images. I am going, now, to buy every book I can. get by. this. gentleman. WOW...rally, buy this book if you want to give it a go. Cheers to the Author.

great little book
This book...it wasn't quite what I expected. It was more or less like a notebook with a hard cover. However, the info and the illistrations were great. This isn't necessarily the end all of Damascus steel steel making but it is very detailed. If I were to add anything to it I would have given a list or table of the various suitable steels for making knives and it would have been either in a more layman form rather in industry part numbers....it would have been far more useful to say something like.......""these steeels are suitable and give a light/dark finish.....A-3, O-1 15N20, S-1, 6, 7, 1080, 1084 1095 etc etc. Common names instead of non standard part numbers to a supplier that I didn't see named unless it was in referrence to white and blue paper steel.

HQ photos but lack of information
I am a bladesmith as a hobby and I am looking to forge my first damascus knife. I thought this book maybe helpful. I bought it and was disappointed. The actual section on making damascus is 2 pages. Has some really high quality photos but lacking the information I wanted to be confident in spending money on materials. There are 3 different forge plans, a section on Wootz, and a section on making a knife but only 2 pages on making and like 1 and a half on doing very simple patterns. I would spend more than $5 for this book if I knew what I knew now.

Good Book
My husband loves this book. He still has not made any knives but he is enthusiastic about trying it one day. It gives enough detail for him to understand the basics of Damascus.

Basic intro to making Damascus
This is probably the weakest of the volumes this publisher has recently released on knife making subjects. The book itself is well produced and the instructions are easily followed with the copious high quality color photos. Its worth getting if you have no idea where to start with making Damascus knives but if you have already dabbled in making some you won't find much of interest. The section on forging appears to be a rehash of the info provided in the first book the publisher released about basic knife making.

Happy
Good book and informative. I have not read it all but I rarely do, I use them more for reference and this is a good informative reed.

Not even a real book
This is barely even a book, and certainly not as advertised. It's weirdly laminated sheets of cardboard printed then put into a binder with a weak spiral holder. If I had paid less then £5 for it then maybe I could understand but as is I feel very ripped off.
