Sound level
This is a replacing for one I had trouble hearing. This one is louder but not loud as I had hoped. I am not going to bother sending it back. It's says it's supposed to be 97 dB. A smoke alarm is around 85 dB and smoke alarm is louder than this. And it's a faster beep than other back up alarm I've heard.

Needs to be louder
Works great. Love that you can still use your 7 way plug just wish it was louder.

Pretty quiet
I would have been happier if it were a few decibels louder. Hard to hear over exhaust with truck running.

Solution to one problem, but can cause bigger problems.
I rarely use the 7 way connector on my bumper, but I use the one inside my truck bed almost every weekend with my 10,000lb gooseneck trailer. This device indeed provides backup alarm, which is really quite good (I'd prefer longer beeps at a slower rhythm, but hey, it does what it does). The problem is that the combined weight & leverage of this item, plus the plug and wire from the trailer can cause this device to sag or droop within the connector in my truck bed. On one occasion, I was informed on arrival that my lights were out, but once I pushed the connector more firmly, they worked again. On another occasion, the trailer brakes stopped working shortly into my trip. After stopping and pressing the connector back into the socket, we were good to go. I really cannot come up with a design solution to make this product not cause this problem. Just be wary and cautious.I'm tempted to go back to direct connecting my trailer, and sticking this alarm device into the connector on my bumper but: a) that's a hassle added to connecting/disconnecting the trailer and b) the protective "door" probably obstructs the sound.

Poor design if use of the backup beeper is the only or primary objective.
What this truly amounts to is that this is a trailer light cable extension WITH a backup warning signal included. The sound of the backup alarm is a bit timid; it is not as loud or ‘obnoxious’ as the BU beeper on my neighbor’s delivery van.To be noticeable at all, the spring loaded dual cover must be propped open slightly - which exposes the trailer light connectors to the elements. I opened the cover about a half inch - which doubles or triples the BU beeper sound - then wrapped the entire adapter in heavy duty tape, leaving a 1 inch gap on the beeper side so sound can exit. If you have a trailer hitched and plugged in all the time, this is a good solution. If you are more interested in the BU alarm, there appear to be better-suited, less expensive products.

Buzzer
This item is very easy to install. The only problem is the cover basically mutes the horn sound which is not good at all.

It is easy to use. It is NOT crazy loud. Which my neighbors can appreciate.
