Does the job but not perfect.
I'll start with the reasons why I purchased this in order to give other people ideas on how they may get use out of any item like this.1) My elderly mother lives with me and is in a wheelchair. In case of an emergency this has allowed people of my choosing to be able to access my house through the garage. I usually keep a hotel security lock on the front door so using a key to get in isn't always possible. Plus, the less she has to get up to unlock the door/open the garage the better because she is a fall risk.2) My phone is on me all of the time, I am never without it. Anytime I visit a neighbor, go to the community pool or park or just go for a walk I have to drag my keys or my garage door opener with me. This eliminates the need for that.3) Garage door openers in cars are not the safest. It is very easy for someone to break your car window and hit your garage door opener.4) There has been a few times where I pulled up to my house and my garage door opener didn't work and the lock was on the front door which goes back to my mother having to unlock the door. If she's with me when this happens, I'd be in trouble. This gives me a back up in case the first fails. The cons: It takes a lot longer to open your phone, wait for this thing to connect and then hit the open or close button. I would say at least 20 seconds. 20 seconds doesn't seem like a long time but when you're sitting in your driveway after working all day and you just want to get in your house, 20 seconds feels like an eternity and that's if it connects on the first try. There should be a way to just tap your phone to open the door as I've seen others with that feature. All in all I still think it's a decent gadget to have at least for my situation.

1994 Garage Door Openers CONTROLLED By Smart Phones! That is SMART!!
Open Sesame is a true solution for being able to use a Smart phone, as a controller, to open legacy garage door openers! It is a very straight forward. EASY to install, link and navigate, Open Sesame can be used by anyone who can use a screwdriver and a Smart phone. I followed the (limited) but simple directions and was up and running in 20 minutes. Only gave four stars because the wires on the Open Sesame box are really to short (4" at best) for allowing the user and installer the ability to place the unit in a location that is optimal. In addition, there is no suppled bracket, cradle, velcro, or sticky to hold the device in place after wiring the unit to the garage opener itself. Just placing the device on the garage door opener, after installation, is NOT recommended by this user, as the vibrations from the motor will cause the unit to eventually fall off, braking the wires, possibly braking the Open Sesame device and worst hitting a vehicle. Still these are issues easily worked around with a few tire wraps and a few extra minutes (and patience) after verifications of operation. If all you want to do is OPEN and Close a legacy garage door opener, using your smart phone, then Open Sesame IS the device for you. Bought two units, one for each garage opener, installed the free app on all iPhones, linked, activated and named each door to the phones and DONE!! If life were just as simple!

Robust product. So-so UI
Important! This device only works with its app, it does not tie into a smart hub/connected house system. Also it is Bluetooth and does not work over the Internet.Device:I have had this installed in my garage for a few weeks now, never fails to connect and open the garage door. The pairing process is a little difficult, I have not been able to transfer keys between devices as of yet, meaning that you have to take your phone to within 6 inches of the device every time you want to pair a new phone to it. Good safety feature, but a bit of a pain if you have a lot of people living in the house...App:The app is very simplistic and not very intuitive, in order to open the garage door you must launch the app, wait for it to pair (takes only about 6 seconds, make sure your Bluetooth is on) tap the garage door icon on the app and it will open the garage door. It is important to note that while the app's virtual garage door image will open, it is not always in sync with the garage door. Many times I will tap and it will register on my phone but the signal won't go through (not enough to the point that it really affects the functionality, but enough to get the virtual door and the garage door to be out of sync)Overall a good product, way better than getting multiple garage door openers at 30-50 a pop.

Great idea, poor attempt
Unlike most of the reviews I read I paid full price. The instructions seem to be written for another device. The online instructions on the company's website say to scan the QR code from the directions. That is the old way and it no longer comes with QR codes. They should mention that on the new instructions. I finally got it synched. If the instructions were correct it would be easy. The app is outdated and asks to scan the code too. I wrote the company and they are responsive and are trying but need to get with it if they want to succeed. Before connecting to my garage door I had fantastic range. Once connected to the opener that changed and I get can't connect, get closer, even when a foot away. This is my first day with it and my first impression. Also the interface of the door going up and down has nothing to do with reality. They need to incorporate another component hat attaches to the door to truly show what position the door is. Or if they cant figure that out don't show an image of a door going up when it is actually going down! Better to just say or flash operating. There is hope for the device if they work the bugs out. Great idea, poor application.
