The title speaks for itself.
I Am glad that I made the decision to purchase this book. The title speaks for itself. The information contained inside of its covers is something that should be taught in public schools. I think one of the most interesting points that I got from the book is that, in order for anyone to declare that the bible or any other religious book are the actual words of a god, the information inside of the book, as well as the geneology of the book must be reviewed. The only thing that I found to be inacurrate was the use of the words Jew and Christian (examples only.) Words are not retroactive, and as such, historians and scientists must recognize people in a way that reflects what the people of a particular time in the past called themselves; i.e. the name that they referred to themselves as, and not the name We think is appropriate or one that some other ignorant people gave them in the past. The first time the word Jew was used, was in 1775 in a play. After the 1800's, eastern Europeans started referring to themselves as such, in the process becoming the chosen people of god, though they have no biological or historical relationship with any of the people of the bible during their lifetime. The words Jew and Hebrew are NOT interchangeable; and they describe two totally different peoples and belief systems. The word Jew is NOT ancient and should only be applied to todays modern or self-styled Jews. Judaism is different from Hebraism. Modern day Jews speak a language know as Yiddish. The Hebrew alphabet is used in the Yiddish language. The Yiddish language use the German language (words) more than any other language. Hebrew and Yiddish words are NOT interchangeable, and neither language contains the other language's words. The word Christian cannot be applied to anyone before 325 CE; or the conference of Nicaea. Prior to 325, Jesus had no history, birth day or anything. Constantine created the modern day Christ, and he didn't even believe in his own creation. The word Christian is nothing more that someone who believes in Christ. Even if the fictitious Jesus was born in 1 CE, people before this date could not be Christians because Jesus did not become a man-god until 325 CE. The African-American in the US have never been slaves (this is another example and not in the book itself.) It is impossible for African to be a slave. However, an African CAN BE enslaved, which is what happened in the America's. Enslavement of someone's mind is the worst form of enslavement. I know a lot will disagree with the African not being a slave. I will go even farther; it is BIOLOGICALLY impossible for an African to be a slave. The answer lie within the word slave itself and its origins. With that being said, the word slave is derived from the word Slav. The Slavs are a European people that live and lived from Russia to Britian. Africans are NOT eastern Europeans and the word was NOT originally applied to the African. If the African does not recognize themselves as slaves, then it wrong for the rest of humankind to label them as such when the word was orginally designed for and used to describe Caucasians. The book is worth its weight in gold. Grammatical errors does not render this or any other book as false or fiction. I just felt that it was important to point out that We must be careful and mindful in attaching labels to people without proper knowledge or insight. But such is the case about the world. I would definitely recommend this book.

"Where Modern Religion comes from"
This book makes the connections of religions through the ages from Astro theology Mithraism (sun worship) to the youngest religion Islam and they all seem to have the same theme as Christianity except Judaism which of course rejects Christ. The authors start out saying there are 3 important things for mankind 1)Politics 2)sex and 3)Religion.The Magi that visited Jesus were Zoroaster's who believed in 1)hatred of the Devil and unworthy things,2)Paradise 3)the last judgement 4)Resurrection of the dead.Interesting comparisons you'll find like Christianity is faith and Zoroastrianism is work,Constantine was a Syncretist and made a statue of himself with a sun crown using the nails from the cross of Jesus.Jesus new age is the age of Aquarius, that Judaism is a product of urbanism not tradition,Christopher Columbus thought he was a messiah prophesied by Joachim, the man that claims to be the current savior Maltreya lives in London however he does not fit the requirements for savior which are believed to be 1)seed of Abraham 2)tribe of Judah 3)house of David 4)born of Virgin 5)born in Bethlehem and 6)must be God.The authors also talk about the Dead Sea Scrolls that say the early Church and Judaism is the Essene Qumran community,James the brother of Jesus is the righteous teacher of the Dead Sea Scrolls which were hidden by Jews in 68 C.E. fleeing Roman soldiers. The Essenes did not recognize all other people as enemies like the temple of Jerusalem appointed by Rome, one interesting passage from the Dead Sea Scrolls is they believed that unattractive people are associated with evil. The King James of Bible we read was a homosexual who killed his lovers and victimized women. That Jesus regarded Jonah as a historical book, one last id bit I'll leave you with is there claimed to be 35 messiahs and 16 were crucified. All in all a nice overview of the history of religion.

Cognitive Dissonance for the Religious Traditionalist
This book is a collection of essays from various authors over hundreds of years, revealing the little known history of facts that dispute the usual teachings of church and religionists. A diversity of opinions from different biases, encouraging the reader to question and ponder, rather than mindlessly accept what you are told. The articles vary from short stories you can read in one setting, to somewhat longer summaries, to poignant quotes from important philosophers. If you are from a religious background, expect loads of cognitive dissonance, and your ideas to be challenged. This is definitely not light hearted reading!

A responsible open minded person is dangerous.
I had suspicions about large religions. The "Holy" wars (sanctification of barbarism), compulsion of slavery, and control of the natural inspiration of the population, are shared in this book. There is something in here for everybody to learn about how our major religions manipulate civilizations into a psuedo - natural conformism.

Wonderful book, a must read.
This is probably the most comprehensive book that I have come across that touches on all the major religions in this world. It highlights a lot of the folly of these religions. This one is a treasured possession.

Great book
A broad understanding for many religious beliefs. This information should be shared to all religious people. The challenge is the power of believing over any different perspective view. How does a religious person move forward without their anchor of believing outside themselves Instead of believing in themselvesLove thyself know thyself
