Q: What is the width of the bottom of the legs? Is the width stated here the seat width or widest width of the legs?

Legs are a bit wider then the seat.

Q: How do I return this product? How much does it cost to return? Thanks.

I had one come with a wrinkle in the faux leather and we had a free return via Amazon. We reordered a replacement one separately.

Q: Am I able to remove the back to have it function as a backless stool?

You absolutely could leave the back off. There is a definite front and back to the stool even without the back rest attached however. The seat is tipped up in the front intending you to rest your back on the backrest. The back is not very tall. Just barely reaching above our counter. We have 5 of these lined up on our kitchen bar and we love them... with the backs attached. Easy to get in and out of.

Q: Confusing instructions! how does one figure our the left & right leg ? the sticker says front - i wish it said left or right . any suggestions?

When placing the legs so that the FRONT sticker faces front, you will see 3 screw holes to screw into the seat bottom, make sure the 2 offset screw holes in the center are inward per the instruction diagram on the right and left.
