Recoil Pad

This is my 2nd ShockEater Recoil Pad. It is NOT a replacement. My initial ShockEater is still in my shooting vest and working well. This one is for a jacket and also works well. I felt it better to simply purchase a 2nd ShockEater rather than dealing with swapping it between the clothing. It's not too expensive, so the cost is more than covered by the savings in time and aggravation.

I heard about the ShockEater recoil pad from my dad who purchased it along with one of their t-shirts last year. He’s since become a raving fan having shot more than 3,500+ rounds through it, and it’s still as good as day one. I was a little skeptical being unfamiliar with the material in the pad, but based on his recommendation I picked one up for my first Argentina dove hunt (a bucket list trip if you haven’t been on one). I decided to try it first in my wild hare vest for shooting trap at my club. From my first box, I was quite surprised at how much recoil it absorbed for being so small and thin! It fit perfectly in my vest, as promised! For the dove hunt, I opted to get a few of their t-shirts as my outfitter felt they would be better for the heat than shooting with a vest. Glad I did. No shoulder bruising or pain, so it made the trip that much better! If you are on the fence, try it, as you will not be disappointed. 5 out of 5.

I haven't shot in close to a decade and was invited to shoot some sporting clays. I'm completely baffled about how this small pad works, but I didn't even have a bit of tenderness. I thought it wasn't that bad out there, maybe I'm overthinking it. Then I saw the bruise on my husband! I had no bruise, no sensitivity the next morning, no pain or tenderness. Amazing. I'll recommend this thing to everyone!! Fits perfectly in the browning vest I bought. I sewed a tiny stitch at the top of the pocket to keep the recoil pad in place, but WOW. I'm so excited about this! We're going shooting again this weekend.

Does the job very well in terms of shock reduction, (I have Browning and Beretta recoil versions which are not quite as good) and lack of bulk is appealing. However it is let down by the rather short tang; hence 4 stars. It could be lengthened and possibly widened by a section, at minimal cost, as otherwise it sits rather low to the shoulder in most shooting vests (see picture against Eddie Bauer) such as Browning or Beretta and thus can move aroung a little in the field. Alternatively if you know the exact positioning you could sew it into place, but that makes it less versatile. Please offer a one section longer & slightly wider delux version, as that has the potential to be the Rolls-Royce of shooting jacket insert recoil pads.

This pad looks and feels simple. But, it seems to work magic! It slips into my vest's inner pocket simply and easily. And then ... I forget about it. It can't be seen or felt. When shooting, it can't be detected as I shoulder the shotgun. The recoil is diffused and spread out evenly, over a large area. I have zero pain or bruising. When I go home, after 100 rounds, I have zero signs of having been to the range. We're all different, but this is how it works for me. Simply perfect. I have held my vest upside down and shaken the pad out of the pocket. So, keep an eye on it. I'd buy this again, for sure.

I was initially concerned that this pad might be too small for the (rather large) pad pocket on my Filson shooting vest. It looked like it might shift during use. However, this was not a problem during games of trap! This pad works beautifully and shooting a range of older guns with hard butt plates instead of recoil pads is now much more pleasant.

I have two of them, since my return from combat I've been rebuilt with many plates pins and screws, simply lots of hardware so this product helps greatly to reduce the recoil. Excellent product but needs to be a little larger for different pocket recoil shirts.

Slipped right into the pocket of my new shooting vest and definitely reduced the shock I was feeling when shooting.

Haven't tried it yet but looks like it's going to do the job. Especially after doing some research on the best recoil pad to get.
