Good read but footnotes aren’t numbered
Overall I enjoyed this book, but be warned, this edition just uses * for footnotes. The footnotes in the back are numbered, but not numbered in the text.

I had to buy and read this for a medieval literature class. This is a hagiography written about Christina of Markyate so the details written within are exaggerated because the person who originally wrote about her was trying to make a case for her to become canonized. It is an interesting story if you are interested in the lives of saints or those that have committed saintly deeds.

The life of Christina of Markyate
This is a wonderful story of a remarkable woman who in spite of all opposition, mainly from her ambitious parents, dedicated her life to God. She lived centuries ago, but the link between her and people like her, and us it Jesus and his Blessed Mother. There are many explanations to help the reader and one point which the author makes is that in the Middle Ages there was great devotion to Our Lady. Britain seems to have lost that sense of spirituality, whereas other countries, not all of course, still hold Maryas our Mother and shelter from harm. I am glad she was brought to our attention and gave the book 4 stars, I wish, though, that we are told more about her, like where she is buried for instance.
