Quick, enjoyable general bio of "The Greatest Showman"
I have always been interested in the history of the sideshow and circus in general, and Barnum in particular, but have lots of curiosity and limited time, so this book was perfect. While I was well aware that Barnum was certainly not the squeaky-clean hero portrayed in the recent film, it was engaging to read about some of the relationships and experiences that made him who he actually was. I enjoyed the topical layout and nuggets of biographical information and detail as well. Fun!

A simple overview of PT Barnum
this was a fun and easy read that provided a brief overview of the life of PT Barnum. Some of the writing seemed disjointed and needed more clarity.

The book had history of PT Barnum, but I would have liked more in-depth information.

This book is a great introduction to P.T. Barnum
This book is a great introduction to P.T. Barnum. I never would have imagined that he had lived so much of his life before he became the Greatest Showman. This book makes me want to see The Greatest Showman even more.

Very Bad and Not Understandable at All
This book was dissconected and it just changed topic completely every single chapter. It was also had way too much words and it made a lot of assumptions and had unknown references. It was.just a bad book with a breif explanation anyway.

Showman or Con Man ?
P T Barnum was an example of the American Dream. Rising from a mediocre beginning to becoming a wealthy individual proved that a person can accomplish what they want. But, in spite of the good he did his main thought was putting money in his own pockets. You have to admire the man . He was against slavery & spoke out about this institution. When he became mayor of Bridgeport, Connecticut he established a hospital & worked to make improvements to make the people there lives better. As a showman he created hoaxes to work on people’s minds. Probably, his most lasting influence was the creation of his circus that entertained generations of people. He lived his life in a way that he planned the outcome with obstacles along the way . He was the ultimate showman.A great biography of a man by the Captivating History staff. Well done!
