Mainstays 3-Shelf Bookcase | Wide Bookshelf Storage Wood Furniture (Black)

Despite the answer 'yes' to the question if the undersides of the shelves are painted the same black as the outsides, neither middle shelf or the underside of the top shelf or the back or bottom of the unit are painted black or any other color. All those areas are completely unfinished and 'raw' particleboard. The box was full of particle board dust, and in many areas the finish was cracked, chipped, or flaking. I used black Sharpie pen to hide those flaws. I also added felt pads to the unfinished areas that would otherwise scratch my floor and walls. The packaging was reasonably good; the unit was fairly easy to assemble, and the price was right. I will not however be buying another one.

I was really excited to get this because my 20 gallon fish tank needs to go on top and I was having a really hard time finding something with the right dimensions. It has super fast delivery- it was supposed to come the following friday but it came the friday the week i ordered it so I was really happy with that. But when it came it was the wrong color. All of my furniture in my room is dark so it doesn't match anything. They gave me the option to return it/replace it but as I move in less than a week I didn't want to risk not having it when I move so i'm stuck with the wrong color. After putting it together the instructions were not very clear- I had to redo it twice and it is not very sturdy. Would not purchase again.

This isn't anything fancy, It serves it's purpose for our office, with the 3-book self. It's Wal-Mart's brand "Mainstays" which I've purchased before. It's a real easy set up with a hammer and Philips screwdriver, about 20 minutes. It's about 3 feet high, 3 feet wide.

Very annoying to find 2 shelves are espresso color and the rest of the pieces are black!!!! I ordered black! Not worth the headache and drama to send back! Hopefully no one notices!

Beautiful for that price

Great for the price, but it did fall apart after my first time moving it. Overall it is ok. Not amazing but not horrible either

It's a decent shelf, there was some small cracks in it, but for my purposes it didn't matter. The two stars are for the damage upon arrival.

It broke while putting it together. It is unusable. I have had these products before, and I am surprised it is so unstable.
