Expected a comedy and got a masterpiece
This anime is so wild and silly. I was expecting a hilarious comedy and they delivered in abundance. Weather it be the school principle bodyslamming a wild deer, the child genius constantly being scolded by her robot or even the tsundere unloading onto her crush in the most explosive way, your in for a treat. This anime will have you laughing at its absurdity the entire time and questioning how did they even think this series up? But highly recommend giving it a watch.

IS THE PRINCIPAL WRESTLING A DEER?!
this is an adorable anime with a mix of very subtle comedy, and over the top deadpan and slapstick comedy. while it may appear to be rooted in reality, being a slice of life series, it's actually not all that realistic. it blends a sort of real life meets sort of silly cartoonish gags that definitely break the reality one may expect from a typical slice of life series.also, i noticed in the second half of the series, the ending theme song is different every episode, but with that said i am not a big fan of the ending themes in general. the lyrics used in all the intros and outros seem to be very cheesy, like on the level of children's nursery rhymes, but i suppose this is supposed to promote the idea this anime is supposed to be very cute.speaking of cuteness, i noticed something of a pattern with Kyoto Animation. they don't really produce much of anything in a sexual nature. recalling back to previous animes, aside from their very first production ever, they have always avoided overt sexual themes for the vast majority of the time, which is very true for this anime specifically.there are no panty shots, no blatant nudity scenes. this series is practically safe enough to let your middle schooler watch with you. considering how many animes these days are guilty of sexual fanservice, it is a relief to see a brand of comedy not so reliant on anime cliche'.one final thing to note, for a slice of life comedy meant for 10 year old boys (it is "shounen" afterall), the budget in this series looks like it was overkill. for something seemingly so basic as this genre, i feel like they had the same kind of money that was put into Attack On Titan, if not at least 80% of the budget.this was a really high quality series, and though i took 6 years to get into it (it never got dubbed and i'm lazy to read) i don't regret taking a leap of faith and suffering through reading subtitles, for everything was really done well, even the Japanese voice acting was just right (female Japanese voices actually irritate me in some animes which is in part why i prefer english dubs, but this anime i didn't have any major issues).

UK Import English Dub Info
I just want to help clarify the dub info for anyone else look to get Nichijou cheaper than the currently out of print US release. The release as show in the photos (Amazon likes to mix reviews for different releases so look at the photos) does have the English dub on it. There are other releases out there that only have the English sub so be careful. I also tested it and I can confirm that is is region locked to region B players. To play this you will need either a hacked region free player or an import region B player. The discs worked fine in my hacked player.

but still manages to be very fun and shockingly heartwarming
I saw clips of Nichijou on tumblr and twitter not long after the show began airing in Japan, but didn't want to fall into the trap of buying individual volumes of an anime, only for the series releases to discontinue, as was and is a common occurrence. This set was a welcome relief. This anime is all over the map for what it gives you, it's very, very hard to tell when a bit starts how the comedy with intensify, or if it will, or if there will even be comedy in that section. The show deliberately messes with your expectations, but still manages to be very fun and shockingly heartwarming. For some, this anime may feel like a test of patience, for others very rewarding. You do get the DVD and Blu-Ray versions on this set, so why not share it with a pal?

BEST ANIME HISTORY OF ANIME
Nichijou (ordinary life) is my favorite anime of all time. I watched this not knowing what to expect and was blown away. The story, the emotion, the comedy, the depth and range of characters, the music, EVERYTHING about was amazing. I laughed, it makes you think about your position in this crazy world, and it leaves you feeling hopeful about this crazy world we live in. This is the second copy i have purchased because i literally watched the other one so much the blu-ray player stopped recognizing the disks. PLEASE, watch this anime. The blu-ray was well packaged and authentic. Thank you!!!

Anything but Ordinary
I saw this show on Crunchyroll and loved it, short - funny - slice of life stories. The young (pre-teen) scientist and her robot companion who wants to be human and go to school, the 3 teen girls in school misadventures, the teachers, the princible , the after school sport club of 2, and others. This is in Japanese with subtitles buy that's fine, would have been screwed up if dubbed in English. It's a truly funny show , I bought the Blu-ray as soon as it was listed and it replaces the Thai DVD set I bought last year. There is some brief violence in it but it's on the same level as Bugs Bunny / Tom and Jerry, over the top ridiculas .

Unique slice of life. Over the top funny
Thoughts: I picked this anime up having only seen a few clips on YouTube a few months ago. NIchijou is a one of a kind anime. It’s a different type of slice of life anime that may not be for everyone as most people like to have a story driven plot. With that being said, the show is clear on its intentions as an all-out crazy (random at times) anime. You can pretty much start from a random episode and still enjoy it.Features: At the time of purchase, I paid 49.99. It contains all 26 episodes on 4 DVDs / 3 Blu-rays. It’s Japanese audio with English subtitles only. The cover art is reversible.
