Top Quality/Speed Hard Drive at 14TB (USB-C/Thunderbolt 3)
La Cie is always amongst the best designed/quality/speed/quiet/capacity/long life external hard drive, as is Seagate. Much more reliable/efficient/better/longer-lasting than other popular brands such as Western Digital.the only negative:La Cie's own software La Cie Toolkit is only good for mirroring, not formatting.La Cie tech support, though good, 2 tech staff did not know how to format the drive for macOS (latest, 11 Big Sur). In Apple Disk (20.1) Utility you erase in APFS (new vs older HFS+) format, by simply clicking on Erase, yet for 2 days tech staff couldn't make it work. I kept getting error message "couldn’t be unmounted because it is in use by process 86 (fseventsd)". Tip articles online never solved it either. Until i called Apple's world's best support: La Cie drives, at least this one, need to go to menu View > Show all Devices vs default Show only Volumes. You erase the 1st of 3 for the drive "Seagate Backup+ Hub BK Media" vs Container or Volume under container ; ) After that, in future, you can return to Show Volume and erase just Volume.Perfect drive ; )

AWFUL - Did not work
AWFUL - Did not work.I've used Lacie drives for years. The D2 Professional 14TB drive came with these strange international plugs. You're suppose to fit the U.S. plug. I pulled my hair out trying to get it started. I'm FURIOUS at Lacie for not doing quality control to ensure my project gets finished.Thank you Amazon for posting this review.

1 year later....dead
I was so excited when initially purchasing this device. I bought it 1 year & 1 week ago today. It's performed well and capacity was more than enough. It's been used on a MAC in a smoke free, cool home, on a UPS the entire time. It gave out this past week while we were gone on vacation. I can't get it to power nor get the blue light to come on but I can feel the drives spinning inside. I'm HOPING my Backblaze online backup has captured it as I've set it up but very disappointed that it's failed after (honestly) minimal use in ideal conditions. I'm switching over to SSD drives now that they are the same price for 8TB (less capacity) but hopefully less to no moving parts.

It crashes twice in two months of use
After I had this two months ago, it crashed twice already. It failed to repair in Mac's disk utilities but it worked once after using the Window's scan disk. I can't depend on this hard drive to store all my pictures and video and will get a different brand of the hard drive for the second backup.

Dead at 3 months
The blue light, THE BIG BRIGHT BLUE LIGHT blinks continually and is so obnoxious I finally covered it with duct tape. If it were red I'd swear this was HAL. It died right at 3 months after arrival.
