Somerville Red Solid Wool Hearth Rug, Half Round

We immediately put the wool rug in front of our fireplace, we love its quality

It's as good as any wool rug, and better then most. With wood heat, if you're not careful, bad things happen, but with this rug, and comin sense, the rug will put up with quite a bit of heat, as long as you don't leave a big red hot coal on it.

The rug was expensive but worth it! I wanted it to protect the area near a woodstove and it does exactly that. It is almost impossible to find quality hearth rugs. This delivered. Feels great and hopefully will last a long time.

I have used this a couple winters now and often think of how happy I am with it. It didn't have to outgas any factory/synthetic stink, it's thick and attractive, and when an occasional ember falls on it (better it than the wood floor!) I just shoo it onto the hearth and it's fine. Even little embers that have clearly sat there and burned out aren't a problem when you brush/vacuum the rug because the burned material disappears—it's wool, not plastic. Not even a burn mark, just a little dent in the rug, if any noticeable difference at all. And the cats love it.

So far, no ambers have escaped from the fireplace but I feel it one did, this rug could handle it. Pros: very thick and stays in place. Cons: it sheds but doesn’t get all over the place, wish it came in a longer length than what was available for purchase.

The room in the house where both of these rugs were placed gets a good amount of sun. The red in the furniture in that room has not faded, however; only the rug faded.Nice texture, sturdy.

I was very pleased with this rug. It arrived promptly and was exactly as described. I vacuumed it several times since purchasing it because it gets ash and dust on it. It looks like new afterwards. I dropped a small hot coal on it by accident recently. It smoldered but I was able to clean it quickly and there isn't even a burn mark. I believe that because wool has such a high burn temperature it would have eventually turned black as the coal went out but I don't think it would have caught fire. Obviously one has to be cautious when loading and cleaning the woodstove but at this point I'm very happy with the purchase.

I ordered two of these in brown to replace rugs that we had been using for a few years. I am glad my others needed replacing because these are so much nicer. They are thick and will do a better job protecting the floor. They are also attractive. I would definitely buy again. They also arrived promptly even though I ordered the week before Christmas. Thank you for a great product.
