Excellent sketchbook!
I've tried all the major brands in my many years but once I tried Hahnemuhle's I never changed. The paper is fabulous. I clip the edges when using (my preference), and while I usually tend to like white paper (I use watercolor in my sketchbooks) it has held up to light watercolor washes, or wetting to move ink lines. The journals hold up to abuse of being taken out for urban sketching, being bent back, and running around in a bag.

a solid little book
I wanted to try the toned watercolor paper so I got this book for urban sketching. The small size is nice and discrete. The elastic band is VERY tight so no worries about it getting messed up in your bag. I am pretty rough with my sketchbooks and I'm happy that this one doesn't show wear & tear.Hahnemuhle papers aren't really my favorite. I like this stock for quick sketches: wet media over or under pen lines. If I was going to do multi-layered or very delicate paintings I would get a different book.It does look really good if you put white paint marker or white out on top of a drawing...it really pops out.

Nice toned paper, suited to pencil
Contrary to the statement on the wrapper "Suitable for all wet techniques", this paper is very thin and warps quite a bit with water application. The paper is 200 gsm which is somewhere around 90# to 91#. It is a smooth paper, easy to sketch on. The picture submitted is done with colored graphite pencils with water applied. The page buckled and after drying did little to straighten out. So, only one side of the paper would be usable due to the buckling issue. I think it's more suitable to just sketching in pencil or light application of pen ink.

Love this little book!
Hannemuhle paper is amazing and I love the toned watercolor paper in this book. Takes water well without pilling, the warp is minimal and the binding is sturdy. I recommend!

Very Nice!
For the price this is a nicely constructed little sketchbook. I’ve used it for light watercolor and gouache and it’s been great! I’ve done a little wet in wet though I’m not totally soaking the paper. Just getting it saturated enough to get the paint flowing nicely.I love the toned paper for gouache. I’m not sure how much sizing is in the paper but the paint lays down very nicely. It doesn’t just sit on the surface of the paper like some cheaper papers— in fact in my opinion it’s comparable to Strathmore 100% cotton Series 5.On the down size it’s kind of thin and the paper will buckle if you go too heavy on the water but that’s true for just about any sketchbook with 200 GSM paper. But that’s really no surprise.I highly recommend this for a good pen/ink/watercolor sketchbook.
