Ponies (National Geographic Kids Readers, Level 1)

National Geographic Kids books are great. The illustrations and photographs are amazing and the information they provide is set up in a way that keeps your children engaged and interested. They have small paragraphs and pop out boxes of facts over beautiful photographs and illustrations, instead of just a boring block of text. My girls love them and we have amassed quite a collection.This particular book is about Ponies. What kid doesn't love horses and ponies? They talk about many things including the types of ponies, their colors and markings, riding and caring for a pony, and babies. My 6 year old loves learning the facts and reading the books while my 3 year old loves the pictures, especially the baby pictures. My 6 year old's kindergarten teacher has suggested more non-fiction books and these are perfect.We have purchased many of the National Geographic Kids books for our collection and they are a big hit in our house. There are so many different books with various subjects that will appeal to any kid. These are highly recommended. If you haven't already, do your kids a favor and start their collection today.

My 2 year old LOVES this entire series of Nat. Geo Readers... I have purchased about 25 different titles, "pre-readers" as well as Level 1 & 2 readers. She loves them all & will ask for certain ones. The "pre-readers" level books are extremely simple & great because she memorizes the words & can "read" it herself. We love the more advanced ones too, because there is more information to talk about. I have learned quite a few facts, myself!) What a great series. The price is reasonable & pictures are great. These are really getting her interested in nature, animals & science... I will continue to buy these as they are released, for our collection!

Good book for my three year old who's starting to get into horses, but some of the info is misleading. For instance, the book is titled "Ponies" and has a page on measuring horses and that ponies are under 14.2 hands, but shows horses and even a draft horse in the book. One of the markings they talk about isn't very clear, and there's a comparison between horse and pony heights that actually pictures a horse and foal. They also picked pony breeds to showcase that have difficult names to pronounce, or aren't as common, and the colors are a bit hard to distinguish from the close-ups (brown vs. chestnut vs. bay).However, my son doesn't recognize all these "mistakes" that I see, and since the point is to teach him something about horses in general, it's pretty good. It covers size, breeds, colors, markings, riding gear, and past and present uses of horses.

Very educational and informative thin book! Lots of fun facts and pictures! Purchased this book for my 3 yr old. He loves the pictures and learning about ponies! Some of the reading is too advanced for him currently but this booo will be utilized for years to come. Perfect for a child who is beginning to read on their own. I have purchased several books of this type and am beyond pleased and impressed.

We used this book during our Distance Learning school. It was a great book for my 3yo, 6yo, and 10yo. Its very informative and has bright pictures.

My daughter loves ponies! We had checked this book out at the library (along with others) and this was the only book my 7 year old couldn’t bear to part with. But we had to return it to library. Conveniently, her birthday was coming up and I was so excited to see this book on Amazon. Great book for horse lovers and learners.

Good book gift for 6 year old

Abbiamo un libretto simile sui ragni (livello due) che è realizzato benissimo; con bellissime fotografie dettagliate sui ragni e informazioni interessanti.Questo libro sui pony non è invece allo stesso livello, purtroppo. Le fotografie sui pony sono poche e non della qualità che ti aspetteresti da National Geographic. Il testo, pur adattato per il livello di lettura 1, risulta un po' pedante.

A mi nieta de 6 años le interesan los animales y le encantó el libro. Las imágenes son preciosas y los textos cortos y perfectos para practicar la lectura en inglés.

My daughter likes this book as she lives horses. She can navigate the pages easily.
