Essential Cesaria Evora

This is the best buy I have made it years. The two CDs are chuck-full of Evora classics I can listen to all day...and I do that most weekends. The only drawback is that I wish I could speak her language, but then, maybe, that is what makes the music so great. Anyway, you can find some translations of her lyrics on the web, if you're interested. It you haven't listened to this lady, you're missing a lot.

I was unfamiliar with the music of Cable Verde region until I heard Cesaria Evora on NPR. I borrowed this album from my library but loved it so much I bought myself a copy.The music is lovely.

I first heard Cesaria Evora while on vacation and was blown away. This 2 CD set is wonderful, there isn't a song on it that I don't like, and I find myself carrying it in and out so I can listen to it both at home and in the car. What an astonishing voice, if you haven't listened to her you are seriously missing out.

Something different from all the sound-alike stuff around. Evora was from Cape Verde. Her music is not easy to describe. It's a mixture of African and Caribbean rhythms. At once sexy and soothing. Give it a listen, you won't be sorry!
