Generally solid read
It is a good read. At times a little uncomfortable when one considers the age of the characters and the sex acts happening on the digital page, but there is a frankness about Mark Roeder's writing that is refreshing. Society does not want to acknowledge that young people do have sexual adventures and that is outside what many want to think about. I loved the redemption of the older neighbors and the healing journey for many characters along the way. That was beautiful. There are a number of passing bits that relate to other books and are not fleshed out in this one - this can be a little confusing at times. Typically if an author references multiple ghost sightings, one would expect that to be a plot point to be developed. But nope, instead these are just little hints of other books.

Relevant because it was banned in Virginia
I wanted to see what the fuss was about so I bought the book.A really great read that I sincerely wish was around to read when I was the same age as the main character in 1970-73.I understand a straight Mother having a seizure over the content but in view of everything else that is available to kids on line (especially pornography, no holds barred sex) this book and story pale in comparison.A quick read full of love and understanding on so many levels.I would give this to any boy questioning who he is and how he deals with it.However, I would never give it to a straight parent and expect them to ever understand.

Lawn Boy, Mark Roeder
Wow! What a wonderful story, a story of sorrow, yet one of love! I only recently became acquainted with the writing of Mark Roeder, but I'm very impressed! There were times where I smiled or laughed to myself, and there were times where I cried (I'm tender hearted, but the scenes were real [in my mind]). Sadly, some of the details in the story still happen today. Too many people are ignorant of the ways of God, even when they claim to be a follower. Others refuse to believe. Whatever...I choose to believe, just as Elijah does in the story, and I choose to forgive just as Bastien does, though it's not always easy. Read the story and I think you will understand. I truly recommend it.

An Enjoyable Read.
I always enjoy Mark's books and this one was no exception. I've followed the series since "A Better Place," and they are always an enjoyable read. It was nice to catch up with some of the characters we haven't heard from in awhile. I always wondered about Taylor's parents, even though we've heard about his mother before in another book. I think all of Mark's books have well-developed and interesting characters who are faced with real life problems and decisions. Not all those decisions are the correct ones either. I'm looking forward to the next book when it comes out!

Somewhat engaging
This book, though somewhat repetitive in a few areas, was generally well written. I liked how characters from some previous books were incorporated as well as seeing how Bastian helped Taylor's parents start to live again. I had wondered how they got on after their son's suicide. I would recommend this book, it is a good addition to the chronicles.

Cutting the lawn has its advantages as it can be life-saving.
The violence in this book is in the memory of the young boy about whom this story is written. I enjoy all of this author, Mark Roeder, writings. I usually get right on what ever new book he gives us, but was a little late this time as I was in the midst of moving. Mark Roeder has written a very good guide to cleaning out ones junk sooner than later. It did give me guidance for my move, but I was glad to get to this new book. I loved it.

Sweet Home Indiana
Mark Roeder's stories of idyllic Verona repainted my impression of gay-hating Indiana. Lawn Boy is a new edition to the series, each of which follows gay-troubled youth to this oasis of acceptance and understanding. Bastien is the main character, a high school freshman. The previous character are still involved, even those off to college. There is drama and comedy, with boy finally meeting boy. The sex is mild and hardly dramatic. An enjoyable read.

Highly Recommend reading "Lawn Boy"
The book was outstanding. Held my full attention, trouble was I didn't want to put the book down. I read the book twice and might read it again. "Lawn Boy" was well written. I would like to see a second book to go along with and complement the first book. Mark Roeder did an excellent job. I highly recommend reading "Lawn Boy."

Teenage loves
This is the second of Mr Rodder's books I've read and they're catching. Certainly not like my teenage years, but they were 20 years before Stonewall. Certainly enjoyable reading without being OTT.

REDEMPTION
I have read every one of Mark's books. To enjoy this to it's fullest extent you really need to go to the start and read "THE SOCCER FIELD IS EMPTY" This is an infill story that tells what happened to one of the families from that book. A first rate read, whether as a stand alone or as part of the series.
